Your Tentative Race Schedule for 2010

Expert  987    Durham, North Carolina |  Subject: Your Tentative Race Schedule for 2010Hello fellow BT'ers and NC triathletes... So, what are your tentative or firm race plans/schedules looking like this year? I'm so undecided and have only really looked at the Setup Events races and of course the Augusta 70.3, and I need to look over the FS Series races and any other good events or series if anyone could recommend some. I'd also like to be at some of the same races as the others, just to say Hi again and feel a part of the community. Here's a list I've put together, certainly not all of them but some I'll choose from: Apr 17th - Belews Lake Sprint. 750M Swim, 14.5 mi. Bike, 5k Run. May 8th - White Lake Half. Volunteer and support my friends (does vlounteeting guarantee me a spot next year?) May 9th - White Lake Sprint. 750M Swim, 14 mi. Bike, 5k Run. May 23rd - Greensboro Sprint (Innagural year at Hagan Stone Park). 750M Swim, 14 mi. Bike, 5k Run. Jun 6th - 36 Degrees North Sprint. 300M Swim, 13 mi. Bike, 5k Run (at Tanglewood Park, practically in my back yard!) Jul 10/11th - Triangle Tri in Raleigh. 750M swim, 17.5 mi. Bike, 5k Run (either the Sat or Sun - which are you doing?) Aug 21st - Lake Norman Sprint. 750M Swim, 17 mi. Bike, 5k Run. Sep 19th - Angel's Race. 300M Swim, 13 mi. Bike, 5k Run. Love the charity and it's my back yard! Sep 26th - Ironman Augusta 70.3 - determined to beat 7 hrs. this time. Oct 16th - Pinehurst Olympic. 1500M Swim, 30 mi. Bike, 10k Run. ... and I should probably exchange one of the earlier Sprints for an Olympic to help me prepare for the Half in Augusta, and I haven't even looked at FS Series or any other events yet. What about you? |

Never ran any FS Series races, are they pretty well organized and fun, good atmosphere? I would like to try a couple this year. |

I've done Gary Kirby for 3 years, last year FS ran it and it was nothing but improved. Lake Royale had parking challenges like Triangle but handled it beautifully. They are organized very well, just smaller (for now). I like a few small races and a few big races each year. Both are good in different ways. |

Will post here if I hear anything. Also, will probably try to get the July 10th date for Triangle Tri, appears a few others are selecting that particular day as well ... and I also like Saturday tri's. Kevin |

It's a "fire leaping, mud crawling, beer drinking run from hell...!!!" Woo hoo!!! It's 2 weeks after the White Lake half, so will be such a fun way to wind down. I think we'll make it a camping trip and if we're to be warriors we'll have to take some of those giant smoked turkey legs to gnaw off the bone with our beer. I might not even bother to take any soap; we'll just play in the mud and stay dirty all weekend... I can't wait to get one of those warrior hats and finisher's medal. I'm going to wear it at the office and annoy all of my coworkers. |
