Garmin Edge 500 compatible with BT uploading?

Resident Curmudgeon  25290    The Road Back Gold member |  Subject: Garmin Edge 500 compatible with BT uploading?Tried this morning, the Garmin Communicator found the device but when I hit upload it stuck at 0%. Didn't have time to play with it, will try again this evening, but is it supposed to be compatible? Any tips? |

We will be supporting direct uploads from it, but can't say exactly when as it's not a small project. As a workaround we'll be enabling tcx file uploads in the near future so you'll be able to use Training Center to export a tcx file of your workouts and upload them to your training log. I'll be working on that over the next few days. |

Bear, glad you asked the question as I just installed my Edge 500 and did not realize it was not supported until trying to upload. This is probably going to be one of the post popular training devices for triathletes around when it comes to tracking workouts. Look forward to the permanent fix. Are we there yet? I've gotten around this by loading my Edge 800 workouts into Garmin Training Center, then exporting the workout to TCX into the History folder. On a Mac it is located in <yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Devices (probably in a similar place in Windows). Once I've done that I go into BT and Import from Garmin, but select my Forerunner 405 instead of the Edge. It will then find the workout and upload it. Works pretty well, though for some reason the distance is coming in at 0.00, even thought the lap data and everything else loads correctly. I just enter that and let it calc my pace. Of course this method only works if you have another device that BT supports. I hope they implement the .fit file uploads soon. |

Still need to use Training Peaks for the power data but BT is my default log for 4+ years so it's VERY nice to at least get the basics in here. Much appreciated... | Subject: RE: Garmin Edge 500 compatible with BT uploading? The 800 will up load without issue as long as the GPS is turned off for the workout, such as on the trainer. With the GPS it craps out at :0% Just a note for those who haven't noticed this part. |
