OK, put away your modesty....don't be embarrassed...what is your triathlon claim to fame?

Mine is that I completed my second IM in 14:30 at 255 lbs taking 1.5 hrs off my first IM.

But that was a couple of years ago and I've got it in my head to do something unequivocal.  Not sure yet what that will be but the gears are churning in my head....

So what have you done or do you plan to do that sets you apart from the 'norm'?

Two top 10 finishes last year (4th and 7th) in small local events...Just missing the overall podium, at least that is what I tell myself, he blew up like a freight train.

I'm pretty happy about my 4 watts per kilo right now and willing to tell anyone that will listen all about it

I did my first Oly on a broken hip (stress fracture didn't know it was broken) and my first ironman on not one but two stress fractures in my foot (Once again did not know til after the fact)  Turns out its MUCH easier to do BOTH those things WITHOUT broken bones.  Just a little FYI for any beginners out there

I went from second to last in my age group in my first race to 2nd in my age group in my second race.  Both sprint distance races at the same location, 6 months apart, 40 pounds lighter and 30 minutes faster.

Mine would be completing 2 IM distance races in one week - one on the east coast, IMLP on 7/25/10, and one on the west coast, Vineman on 7/31/10.

Planned claims to fame will hopefully include completing 5 IMs in a 12 month period and completing Ultraman Canada (swim 10K, bike 90+170, double mary).

I've taken first place in every Norris Lake Triathlon that has ever been held.  I'm up to maybe 20 straight wins.

Hmmm. Not sure. I'm a bit of a mongrel. I don't have a long list of big race victories. I was a fat kid who lost weight and got into endurance sports. I've never been particularly good, but I'm still around.

So, it looks somthing like this:

5 Time USCF State Cycling Champion with titles in both road (as a cat IV though) and Time Trial (both Senior/Elite Men and Masters).

Former member of Nike/Velo-News/Gatorade Amateur cycling Team in Belgium.

6 time Ironman finisher, including Hawaii, New Zealand, France.

Competed in the longest running and adventure races on earth: Discovery Channel Eco-Challenge (British Columbia), The Raid Gauloises (Vietnam), The Jordan Telecom Desert Cup (Jordan), The Marathon des Sables (Morocco), the "Last Marathon" in Antarctica.

Done endurance racing on all seven continents, including Antarctica.

Climbed the highest mountains on three continents.

Approx 300 triathlon finishes at all distances.

U.S. Army Honor Graduate, One Station Unit Training, Fort Benning, Georgia, Class cycle C-6-4.

Stroke and heart surgery survivor (my favorite "finish line").

My claim to fame is that none of my friends can swim, bike, and run as long as I can. Some of my friends can't even last more than 10 hours... I can last 14 1/2 hours

I hold the house record for overweight men age 30-35 for the following distances:

5k, 10k, 13.1 mile, Sprint, Olympic, HIM and IM distances. One of these days I'll actually finish a stand alone marathon.

Other than this flip response, I'm proud I'm able to be a stay at home dad, train for another Ironman, work (very) part time and maintain a 3.3+ GPA-and still find time for my wife (who works way too hard) to train.

I've been the race leader of a tri 3 times.  My downfall has always been getting out of the water.    Two times the lead lasted until less than 1k into the bike but my last race I held onto the lead for 17km, but that's only because it was a small field and I had a 4 minute lead getting out of the water.  That's right, a 4 minute lead evaporated in only 17k.  Cry

I'm the idiot who did CA 70.3 on a bike with cruiser bars and 3 gears.

I'm the idiot who signed up for her first triathlon a week before, figuring ... how hard can it be to learn how to ride a bike?

I've been first out of the water at a tri (well, had the fastest swim split, anyway, male or female).

If we're talking constituent sports, too ... I set a world record at the SD Rock 'n' Roll Marathon ... in an Elvis suit.

My claim to fame is an uncanny ability to choose the right races and categories to play to my strengths and win medals

This resulted in podiums 6 times in 2010!  It was totally worth it for the rush.

My claim to fame appears to be that if I sign up for a race, the weather will be great....even when it shouldn't be or when the forecast is bad.

On the flip side, if I sign up for a hiking trip, the weather will suck...so it's a trade-off.

My first triathlon ever was an olympic distance. It was also my first OWS, my first time in a wetsuit, and my first time in 58* water.  I also had a violent stomach flu the night before which had me vomitting every half-hour for 12 hours.  I came in 3rd in my AG
