Subject: RE: What is your bike doing when you're not riding it?My GT mtn bike and QR take their rest propped up in my dining room. One is usually out while the other stays in. The homebound bike spends quality time with the cat who like to use her imagination while jumping through the cranks and frame, often leaving behind some fur on the chain and gaining a nice grease spot on her back. When together, the two of them quarrel over which one of them I like best. It goes something like this: "She bought me brand new from the LBS...you're an eBay purchase". "Well, at least I have a bike computer." "I don't need any gadgets, my fat tires and rugged build can get me through ANYTHING". "Yeah...but how fast, fatso? Oh wait, she wouldn't even know because you don't have a computer!" "At least I get to go to work with her and spend my days people watching in the parking lot. You have to stay here all day with the critters." "I like the dog...the cat IS a bit annoying. Well, you don't get to go out on the long rides in the country...when's the last time you saw a cornfield?" "Cornfield shmorfield...I can hop logs and go over rocks. And, I have front wheel suspension." "Yeah, well, I have aero bars and a butterfly tri saddle for a comfortable ride." "When you're off road you don't spend THAT much time in the saddle stupid." And on they go. Like an old married couple... |
