There are plenty of people here who's screen names we can understand, but I'm so curious about many others of you.

Mine, for example, is a character in a book called "Not Wanted on the Voyage". She is Noah's (of the Ark fame) wife's talking cat who didn't belong on the Ark, but the missus brought her along anyway. Mottyl had a bit of an attitude on her. It's not so much a religious book, I'm not a religious gal, but a bit of a morality tale with a little satire thrown in that happens to take place in a huge Christian story. I've got a thing for cats, problem with authority, and a bit of an attitude. It fits.

I read the book years ago, it was published in 1984, so I've quite likely missed a huge point of it but I've been carrying the name around with me. I should read it again.

I am Freeswimmingfish.
I take it as my American Indian animal name of Fish. The free swimming part is where I am in life, free swimmimg. I get this because I am a New Warrior. If you are interested, and a man, checkout the Mankind Project web site:

The name of the little one on the left starts with 'Mar'
The name of the little one on the right starts with 'Ma'
The one in the middle (me) is Daddy.

They have recently taken to calling me Dad once in a while.

I don't like it. Should we all live another 100 years they will still be my little girls and little girls call their father 'Daddy' not 'Dad'.

Sorry, don't have a cool explanation for GatorGirl22, except for the fact that University of Florida rocks! (and I was 22 at the time- I'm now a wrinkly, sagging 23 year old)

At first glance, mine is merely a number.  However, please believe that it is much more involved.  Once I have submitted my 3,558th post, I forsee two possibilites.  One, my 3,558th post will bring joy to a select few BTers.  Or two, the event could create a time paradox, the results of which could start a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to our own galaxy.

Mine's pretty self explanatory.  Too many people take themselves WAY too seriously.  The world would be a better place if everyone would just relax a little bit.

hahaha. Watch it. I'm a geriatric 24 year old. You're just a young whippersnapper.

I'm a meteorologist, which is where my name comes from. When you look at the dynamics of the atmosphere, you quantify rotation of air (like low pressure systems rotate around a central core) with a parameter called vorticity. The region of maximum vorticitiy is abbreviated to vortmax.

I love to play craps, came here from a craps forum and was too lazy to change my screenname.

Guess I didn't think I'd be here two years later.

p.s. case you're wondering dice are often referred to as bones.

Speedball is not because I am fast or I necessarily love to mix and inject heroin and cocaine. My first name is Tucker and a buddy said "there is an old Jim Croce song called Speedball Tucker I think I'll call you speedball". Whatever.

I'm 44 and still call my father, "Daddy".

You know the cartoons where there's an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other shoulder whispering to the person about what to do? I always referred to my "angel" as "Bettylou Baptist". (Us Methodists enjoy making Baptist jokes- ha!) So Bettylou is the "good-girl" in me.
And she's totally ruining her reputation hanging around in Cup of Joe!

There was a craps forum and "rollinbones" wasn't already taken - were there like three dudes in this forum? Don't tell me - the other guys were "crappedout" and "boxcars"?

nbo10 short for NbSr2RuCu2O10, the first superconductor that I synthesized during grad school. But, does that sound geeky.

Well, Courtney is my first name and Leone is my last name

A lot of my friends call me 'Corleone,' from The Godfather, and also because of my enormous Italian family. At least that's more original!

I'm afraid someone would start stalking me if I posted my real name. For some reason I'm paranoid about stuff like that, like I'm that important anyone would stalk me.

My last name is Hebert, which in Cajun Country is pronounced "ay-bear." Both All of my friends call me The Bear, so that's what I go by on all discussion boards. Since 1998.

It's been a while since we've done this, so it's in need of updating, but here's a previous thread on this subject that will fill in some gaps and bring back some memories of some posters that no longer frequent this place:

when we first started dating, my gf said I reminded her the character, Possum, in Places in the Heart. It stuck.  But now that I use it as a BT name, she's all bitter bc it was "her" name for me, so now she just calls me Hollis

Explanation in reverse order.....

Canuck - A damn proud Canadian, born and raised on the flatlands of Manitoba.

Crazy - well, I have been told numerous times that I am a bit off the centre line, should be on meds/under a doctor's care, loco, warped etc (and that's just my family saying that.....)

And lastly, it is a spin off of a quirky cult 1980's Canadian comic book hero, Captian Canuck.  There are tonnes of similarities......  He dons his superhero outfit (Uniform) and saves (deals with) Canadians (Canadians) needing a helping hand (needing to get arrested).....  the only thing is I don't have any catch phrases.  I was thinking of "dance monkey dance" but could never use it at the right time........

Lets see, before I started this new addiction, I was addicted to golf (a 6 handicap at one time). When you have a good day or a bad day they say you pray to the golfing gods to help you.

Maybe I need to change to trigods

JeepFleeb:

Jeep - I've owned 3 Jeeps in my short driving career and still have 2 of them.  I'm building my Wrangler (TJ) up as a pure off-road machine and the Grand Cherokee (5.9 ZJ) is to tow it on the highway.  One of my long term goals is to build a CJ-5 (one of the old school Wranglers) in my garage.

Fleeb - Same concept as Haagen-Dazs ice cream.  Random letters thrown together which sound just enough like a real word to make people think it means something.

I thought Haagen-Dazs meant "Fat Ass" in Viking?
