Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok...my wife just got a promotion at work. She's now management. So now she goes from wearing Khaki's and a Polo to wearing "nice" clothes. So we buy her a new wardrobe. No problems yet. Apparently, she now needs a little pocket calender to keep track of which outfits she's worn on what days. Her mom apparently does this and this also stems from her sister stating, "You wore that outfit to my surprise bridal shower 6 months ago". So PLEASE...can you enlighten me as to why it matters?! I have 6-7 long sleeve shirts and another 4-5 Polo's that I rotate through at work (Engineer). I make sure I don't wear the same shirt the same week. Other than the fact that Women dress for each other and not for us men...Why does it matter?! |

The Original ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't keep track of the clothes I wear. Can't say I ever have. I wear whatever I'm in the mood for that day. But I do make sure to wear pants's and shirts only once a week. Like I won't wear the same shirt on Monday and again later that week. It has to wait until the next week. That's my only rule, but I don't write it down I just remember ![]() |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lol.. no enlightenment for you here. I rotate two pair of khakis, three pair of jeans and about 5 polo shirts, washed between wearings, of course... |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I haven't really thought of that since Jr. High - probably would have thought about it through high school if I hadn't had to wear a uniform.... I now wear jeans and a sweater or "good" t-shirt, and often find myself wearing the same jeans several days in a row without even thinking about it.... i even bought several "good" t-shirts of the same color because they were $1.50 and they get so dirty I go through them fast..... but.... For corporate casual, I would stick to the once a week rule. When I go to conventions, where a jacket/suit is the norm amoung a population base that rarely wears them (geologists), I am always dismayed that men have no qualms about wearing the same sport coat all week long! not that I am offended, I just wish I didn't somehow BELIEVE that I needed a new ensamble every day.... |

I don't keep track of anything clothing related. Unless it's on a hanger, in a drawer or fresh from the drier, I sniff it before I put it on. Other than that, no restrictions. I wear what I feel like wearing. Also, I don't dress for women and I don't dress for men, I dress because I hear it's socially unacceptable not to dress. |

![]() | ![]() Women's (especially a wife's) clothing behavior/choices? Noooooooooooooo! Couldn't you stick to something less controversial like abortion, burritos, sexual orientation, politics, flip turns, religion or Chuck Norris? This could get ugly. Edited by hangloose 2006-03-15 3:35 PM |

I'm not a lady, so I have nothing enlightening to add other than I have similar questions about the complexities of women and clothing. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I try to make sure that I do not wear the same outfit more than once in like a two week period (so I will not wear it in two back to back weeks). I do not use a calendar to figure this out, just try to keep track in my head. I also try to make sure that I do not wear the same color (or related colors in back to back days). So for example I am wearing red today, so I will not wear red or pink tomorrow. ![]() I do not think there is any sort of written or spoken rule about this, just personal preference. |

Queen BTich ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My mom sort of does that too, but not to that degree. She won't wear the same outfit (out or to work) more than once, maybe twice a month. I could care less. |
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() Yup, I'm with the once a week rule, except maybe for pants, because I have such a hard time finding ones that fit. I do give those a day between wearing or wash if it's time. I do get in a "habit" on outfits, so sometimes I have to make sure I'm not wearing the same thing every Monday. Really, people keep track what outfit they wear? Stacy and Clinton don't even say to do that. |

I prefer 2 weeks between repeats but it's not too difficult to decide what to wear. I tend to start from the right and move to the left (in my choices). No calendar necessary! Oh, and WHY it matters - because we're vain. No mystery there! Edited by Renee 2006-03-15 4:16 PM |

I do the same thing!! Except when my weight creeped up and I refused to buy the size above, I had to drop it to once a week, not two week period. The color thing I do as well. PS - Dry Clean Only = Dirty. As long as it doesn't smell, it deserves another wear ![]() |

![]() | ![]() The anthropologist in me says it's a status thing. Rarely wearing the same thing says you have lots of money, you have lots of clothes, and you have lots of good clothes. Wearing the same thing to the same type of event sends the message that you only have 1 appropriate outfit and therefore do not have an adequate wardrobe. Wearing the same thing 6 months later says you are not keeping up with the seasons and the styles. That said I own 6 pairs or pants and about 10 shirts. I have worn the same hoody over my shirt all this winter. It is a 10 year old hoody that is a bit too big for me and still has a mis-stitch hole on the inside of the right sleeve that was there when I bought it at a military base. But this is all appropriately conveying my status as a poor graduate student, |

Now THAT's weird. I'll admit it. I did this is high school, but I don't any more. I promise! |

OK, is this from the right to left in the closet, or do you dress politically to the right first, and go gradually more left. Like on Monday, you wear a Nancy Reagan power suit and by Friday you wear peasant skirts and love beads? |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sounds wierd.....I don't know anyone who tracks their wardrobe on a calender |
![]() ![]() |
Member![]() | ![]() Tracking your wardrobe on the calender does seem a bit weird, but I think you're talking to the wrong people to enlighten you. If this were, say, "Beginner Fashion Designer" you might get a few more answers. I do have a few friends who are a bit squirelly when it comes to their clothes, and i think it may just be because they get bored with their clothes easily. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I try not to wear the same shirt twice in a week but with plain black or khaki pants I'll do the same ones maybe on a Monday and a Thursday. Once I own more "work" pants that fit (thank you tri training for making my old pants too big!) then I would probably try to do the once a week thing for those too. This is only because I'm working now though - when I was at home I didn't care if I wore the same shorts or t-shirts more than once a week. The only thing I do have to pay attention to is when I wear my Lilly Pulitzer clothes. It is much more obvious if I wear them more often because people notice them more. I figure people don't notice as much if I wore black pants a few days ago but they remember if I wore my lobster skirt this week. Then again if anyone else is like me they'd never remember what anybody wore - I couldn't tell you what my co-workers wore yesterday forget last week. |

Thanks for the input. And you're right..perhaps this is the "wrong" group to ask, but I have to ask someone! NOT that BT women aren't fashionable...I'm just sure it's hard to find a Power suit in Dri-fit..that's all. Edited by Marvarnett 2006-03-16 7:46 AM |

![]() | ![]() I think it comes down to personality traits... some people are more particular about details than others. My dad has 5 suits he wears regularly (black, brown, gray, tan, pinstripe). Every Monday, he wears the black suit. Every Tuesday he wears the brown suit, etc. IT NEVER CHANGES! Ever! He is not OCD or anything, just likes routine. |
