Expert  932    Chandler, AZ |  Subject: How awesome is the BT community?!...The answer? Really freaking awesome!! I think it's pretty obvious how generous a lot of the athletes are on these forums with their time and willingness to share their experiences and tips. But I am just amazed at how far some of the posters will go to help out a fellow triathlete. I started a thread a few days ago about my trainer destroying my back tire and a long with a lot of explanations as to why this could have happened, one guy actually offered to send me a spare trainer tire that he had laying around...after giving him my address he said he'd send it the next day and sure enough, it was at my door step when I got home...I am absolutely amazed by the generosity of a complete stranger who was willing to not only offer his advice, but to send me the equipment that I needed. (Even my offer to cover his shipping costs were declined) Big shout to blbriley for hooking me up...I will now dedicate all of my trainer sessions to you. In other words, it's your name I'll be cursing when I stuck in my house for my long rides sweating like a pig. |

The BT community (well, the 99% that don't need to "grab popcorn" when a newbie asks a question) have been very supportive of my efforts over the past two years. I've been here at BT since January or so, which is long enough to see some of the same threads get started and same n00b questions asked and you know, every time, there's the same people sharing their stories and helping to answer the same question. I have been around here since 2006 with a short break in the middle and have seen what you describe over and over again. I've had the opportunity to train and volunteer in the rain with many other BT'ers and it has always been a pleasure. Even had the opportunity to spend the night with DerekL and his wife tri_it_cajun_style for a race several years ago. Never met them before that. Drove to Dallas and spent the weekend in their home for a race. Awesome community all around! |
