Subject: RE: Teenage boysAs the father of a 15 year old special needs son, this is a very touching and warming link. Thank you for sharing. It is really good to see members of this age group try to be accepting of others who are different. One hopes this lesson can be shared. Not those of the kids on the school bus verbally abusing and bullying the elderly woman monitor like was in the media this spring. As a parent, one of our bigger fears is how our son is treated by other children. He would be easy to make fun of and tease. He has a very warm heart and means well by people. At some previous schools, he's been known as "the Little Mayor" because he's always saying hello to people walking down the halls and the like. But he is unquestionably different and not socially adept. This story gives some hope. |
