Swim
Comments: Hung around for ages waiting for our wave. I actually wasn't that nervous, chatted to the guys and some other teams. I wasn't actually ready when they finally called us, got my suit zipped up and put my caps and goggles on while I jogged to the entry stairs. Dived off the bottom step and FACH ME the water was freezing, my first thought was that Andy (the swimmer form the other team) was gonna lose his testicles cause he was swimming in "his man suit" as he called it. As usual I got a bit panicky when I first got in and felt like I couldn't cope with putting my head under, which would make for a damn long and slow swim. Had some time in the water before our start so made myself focus and put my head under and breath and calmed down nicely. I was all good to go by the time we were ready to start. I felt like I got into my rhythm well, my sighting was fine, my goggles transitioned beautifully in the sunlight and my wetsuit felt good. We were swimming with a slight current which I am thankful for because it made the swim much more pleasant. Tried to check out the million dollar houses and boats as I swam past but to be honest by the half way point I was bored and kinda over it :) but had to just keep swimming obviously so tried to concentrate on my form just to keep my brain occupied. Finally rounded the last buoy and could see the exit steps, picked up my kick so that my legs would work on the stairs and the run. Had some PITA from the men's team wave tapping on my feet, which was vey annoying (I'm working on not swearing as much) there was PLENTY of room for him to swim around me, like a 100m wide canal, so I kicked harder hoping that he would get the message or that I might accidentally kick him in the head. Got to the steps and got out ok, they were very steep. Started running and my legs felt great but FACH the top of my wetsuit felt like it had a death grip on my shoulders and was squeezing as I ran. Go into transition, passed the timing chip to Grant and watched him leave then went to fight my way out of my wetsuit. All I can say is that it was a good thing that I wasn't riding cause it took me ages to get it off. What would you do differently?: Just need to swim more and more often in my wetsuit but really I'm not sure that long races are my thing, they are just kinda boring. Transition 1
Comments: This would have been quicker if Grant had of not felt the need to have a chat and then walk his bike out of transition :) Bike
Comments: Sat in the team tent while Grant did this, we walked to the turn a round point and saw him go past. He was smack on his planned 30kph pace. About 15 minutes later we got a text saying that he had a puncture, and 10 minutes later saying that he had another. Luckily for some reason th t morning he had put a second tube in so he'd managed to keep going but he wasn't happy and by this time it was getting damn hot. Grants ride time 3:30 Transition 2
Run
Comments: Sat in the tent with Grant while rob did this. Once Grant had cooled down a bit and was ready we walked over to the finish area. The run course was good for spectating as there was one spot they they run through 6 times in the race so it was a good vantage point and close to the finish line too so we could see people finish. Rob smashed the run and did it in about 1:40 but he ended up in the medical tent at the finish line cause it was so very hot. Post race

DH got home from speedway at 1:45am which woke me up but I managed to go straight back to sleep and woke up again when the alarm went off at 4:30. Got up and dressed, grabbed a couple of bananas and headed out the door at 4:45, smack on time.
Our wave didn't start until 7:49am but transition closed at 6:15am so we had to be there by 6 and it is a good hours drive. I managed to find parking fairly easy and walked do the the transition area and meet up with Grant at his bike. Rob, who was running wasn't gonna show until after 7, so hung around with Grant and the members from the other team that we knew.
Hung around transition and watched the pro men come in, they did the swim in under 25 minutes, then we headed for the swim start.
Few arm swings and stretches, not allowed into the water until 2 minutes before our wave start.
