Total Time = 1h 20m 34s
Overall Rank = 82/241
Age Group = F 30-35
Age Group Rank = 1/12
Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:15 am for breakfast (bagel w/ PB and some coffee). Loaded the car and drove the 20 minutes to the race site.
Event warmup:

Not much warm up. Set up transition area and chatted with Brad and Ron along with two guys we met at last week's race. Hit the bathrooms and then watched the swim start on the pool deck.
Swim
  • 07m 13s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

Pool was chilly, but I felt great from the start. Having the length be 50 meters instead of 25 was great to spread out the masses and have it be easy to pass. I was able to flip turn at the wall and push off into the next lane without any issue. Brad started 10 seconds in front of me and he knew I was gunning to catch and pass him. I was close, but only managed to draft off him and pull up next to him on the last length. It was fun to try to catch him.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing at all. I had a great swim! In past pool swims, I think I was "too nice" and would feel bad about passing people/running over them. I have learned to be agressive, but courteous which worked out today as I passed a few people.
Transition 1
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Since Brad and I were racked next to eachother, we gave eachother a good luck as we moved through T1. Quickly stood on my towel to get some of the dirt off, slid on my bike shoes, on with the helmet and glasses and I was off (chasing Brad).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...I had a great T1 (and was ranked 1 in my AG)!
Bike
  • 40m 27s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Nothing major to report on the bike. I pushed it hard on the flats and downhills and then spun up the hills. I was a little bored with the course by the third loop, but I felt great! I was only passed by one woman at about mile 11 and I ended up passing her as we pulled into the transition area.
I think the bike course was short...my computer read 11.6.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing at all. I had a super bike!
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

I tried to improve my T2 time from last week. I motored through without anything to report. Off with the bike shoes, on with the sneakers (no socks), helmet off, visor on and grabbed the race belt to put it on while running.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Super T2 (and again, #1 in my AG)!
Run
  • 30m 48s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was HILLY! It started out downhill and then was rollers for the rest of the course (I don't think there was any flats). The trail was mostly shaded which was great! I hit the water station both times for some water (drank it on the run). The finish was a little of a challenge as it was uphill. Didn't have much of a kick to sprint at the end, but I finished with a smile.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more hill running. Overally, fairly happy with my run performance. I can tell it's improving!
Post race
Warm down:

Chatted with Brad as we waited for Ron to finish. Grabbed some food and water and sat in the grass to wait for the awards ceremony (we stayed this time).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing! I had a super race!

Event comments:

This was the first year for this race and it was fairly well run.
Positives:
Lots of volunteers
Nice wicking L/S shirt
Started on time
Organized swim (actually had a 2 minute break every 40 people to spread out the masses)

Negatives:
Packet pickup was only yesterday for 4 hours mid afternoon
3 loops of the bike was a little boring, but then again the race site was in a busy, residential area...so I understand

I'd do this race again!

K you are so impressive this year with the improvements in both your bike and run. Like I said, Brad better move some of that hardware over since someone else in the house needs the room
Congrats!!!
