So two questions: I was thinking of doing another olympic tri in late spring '08 as part of my conditioning (in addition to training, of course) and then do the HIM sometime in summer...does that sound like a good idea? Does anyone else do that, or do you just train for the HIM, no other races?
Also, I used BT's 16 week training schedule for the olympic and it worked out really well for me. I figure I'll use the training schedule for the HIM on here as well. Unless anyone has any other suggestions...?
I just got back into Tri's after a 16 year layoff and will have a total of 2 Oly's, 3 sprints, and a half mary, done by the end of October. I'm looking at HIM's for 2008 too. This is the plan on hoping to carry out to prepare for the 70.3 distance.
I plan on doing a Half IM in early June, as I did the sprint on the same course last year and know it's pretty much flat as a pancake. I'll plan on making it an Aquabike, and do the swim and ride, then see how things are going and do at least part of the run
(it's a loop setup which will make not finishing and walking back to the transition an easy thing to do if I'm to pooped out, but hopefully I can at least finish even if I'm walking quite a bit of the run
)
My A race is scheduled for the second weekend of Sept, as I'm off for that weekend and there's a race in Ontario and another in Illinois I'm considering.
Between June and Sept I'll fit in a couple of sprints and Oly's just to keep the juices flowing and get some races in for practice.
I've used the Oly program and have been happy with it, hopefully the results will show up on race day in two and a half weeks.
I found another HIM 20 week program over at

Its not as detailed as BT's, but is an option.
Good luck
