lvthgme - 2008-06-13 10:36 AM JDW - this space isn't free. That'll be $10. Thanks.

We also accept food.

I'm going to rant a little - if it bothers you - I am sorry - truly - just ignore it and move on. This is the only place I feel like I can talk about this without getting the Marma police to kick me out altogether.

So - Hy-Vee has been changed to a Du (10K/40k/5k). Some people are upset about it. A couple, in particular, are throwing a fit about it. Sending e-mails to the race directors (have you thought about this..what about this..). Just generally a bunch of complaining because there will be no swim.

Disappointing, I understand that. Maybe you don't want to race now, OK, pull out. Seriously, though, it is a freakin disaster and you need to show the people affected by this disaster a little more respect than that (and I'm not talking about me, for all intents and purposes, I am not really "affected" by it). You have people that have lost everything, whose insurance is not going to cover it, who have their fathers day and mothers day gifts that they have saved for years that are washed away, who have lost a vehicle - and are upside down on the loan, so they will actually still have a payment on something they cannot use and most likely go to collection over it, doing damage to their credit. You have farm fields that will not be of use for the year (farmers don't get money if they don't plant a crop), which will in turn make food prices rise (and gas prices thanks to fuel blends), you have a ton of infrastructure damage in several major cities and many more smaller ones that will once again cause a jump in insurance premium prices, for everyone.

Through all of this, they're biggest complaints are that they would have never paid $135 for entry into a Du and that, if they bail, they can't get their race packet or have anyone else pick it up for them. Seriously - STFU

OK - I'm done. Thanks for providing the space.

I understand.  It's kind of whiny to complain about canceling a swim. Not sure how they could refund all the money for people who don't want to do a du.  Just not feasible.  But swims get canceled.  That's part of the risk of doing a tri that's not in a pool.

You guys are making me hungry and lunch is 1 hour away.  Turkey sandwich and mac-n-cheese from Charlie the Butcher.  Yummy.

Time to find a snack to carry me over though!

No clue what to get for lunch... Any suggestions from TAN??

sup TAN.....  I'm happier today!  I was on edge yesterday and it got worse on the way home.  Almost snapped when someone pulled a U-turn right in front of me and almost hit the side of my car, then acted like it was MY fault.  I got home and told my wife that I was going for a run and I HOPED someone would start some shite, cuz they would get there arse kicked.....

BUT a great ride and run made me feel better.

Anyway, glad it's friday!  Just a half day and then packing to leave town for a little racey race.....

Took my sons to a Pawtucket Red Sox game last night. The weather was dead perfect baseball weather. 75-80, light breeze, sunny. Game went 13 innings, though.
