I don't think I like the new run course. Iron-sherpas will have a tough time getting around to see you on more than one part of the course and I personally like loops better than out and backs. Two out and backs just suck.

I like the out and back better.  It breaks the run down into 4 parts.

I think I am not going to notice a damn thing during the run. I will be in too much pain.

The way the loops were set up it was not very sherpa friendly.  My sherpa will be stationed downtown, now we will pass through going out and back - last year we only got to see them on the way out.

Pretty much the end of every race is painful for me. If it's not, than I didn't work hard enough!

I'll be in pain too, knowing I'll be running by our rental house 4 times and that there will be icy cold Canadian Beer inside, it might be to much for me to pass up.  Would I get a penalty for drinking a cold one and taking a nap?

Agreed ^^

Four parts, and when you get to the second turn around (e.g. 13.1) you just have to repeat what you just did. That way you know what to except the second time.

Hope everyone received their second newsletter, just an FYI.

As long as you finish by 16:59:59 you should be good.

Do you need me to bring some down for you?  Or should I just pack some extra Blue and you and Scott can stop by for a drink after the race

Hi all,

Last weekend at Augusta I qualifed for the 70.3 world champs so I'm pulling out of the b2b since Clearwater is one week after this race. I'll be canceling my reservation for an ocean front room at the HI Sunspree with king size bed if anyone wants it. Staying at the beach is the way to go for this race in my opinion (stayed there last year). Just shoot me a PM with your name and I'll ask if they'll hold it for you.

Nick

Congrats! And that sucks! Do a good job at Clearwater.

So I took four days off as requested by my doctor. I'm back at it today. Going to try to get in a couple hours on the bike today and then hoepfully an OWS in Lake Michigan tomorrow followed by a long run if I can find soemone to watch my stuff while I"m in the water. Going to see if I can get a hood and booties tonight somewhere. Damn I can't believe it's only a month away.

I guess I'm jumping the gun a little and hopefully this wasn't asked already but....

What is the date for next year's race? 2010?  I'm trying to get a group to do it next year and I want to get everything worked out.

When I had asked Setup last year in an email for this year's date they wouldn't give me anything and stated they had to get agreements with the cities involved.  I did look at tide charts and found that the tide was close on both Nov 1 of 2008 as it was Nov 7 2009 so that seems to be the kicker.

I forgot where I found the searchable tide charts, but that may give you a real good idea for 2010 if you do a little digging around.

Does anybody know if we are allowed to park at the Battleship on a Saturday morning prior to race and ride the course (or at least the part on that side of the river.)?

Anyone have recommendations for hotels in the downtown area? The host hotel is booked already.

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, the parking lot at the Battleship is always open...

try the Blockade Runner- have hear good things about it, and we are staying there.  it is on Wrightsville Beach, about 1 mile north of the full swim start.

Just wondering, who is planning on using a disc at B2B?

Would there be any advantage of using a zipp 1080 over a zipp disc? Or, would the aero advantage go to the disc on this course?

I'll be riding a Trek 1.5 (entry level road bike) with clip on Aero Stryke bars, and Spinergy 60mm wheels with a wheelbuilder.com disk COVER on the back.

I think that being distracted by everyone elses bike will do some serious damage to my bike time.  Have not participated or seen a triathlon in over a year and will be drooling over all the bikes.  I don't even think I have ever seen a disc, that is how much of a noob I am...so your post about the disc made me realize that I am going to be the guy you are passing that is looking at your bike like a little kid looks at presents under the christmas tree.  Can't wait!!!!
