ok spill it.  how much time have you wasted today on googles doodle?

i'm in for about "a few" minutes.

Zero. Been training my arse off instead!!!

You can play Dave a song with it later if you can make it past kid's bedtime!  Keep going, Iron-Woman!  (aren't you supposed to be tapering soon?)

BIG NEWS!

No stress fracture!!!!!  Apparently, I have a bruised 2nd met head.  No running the rest of the week, some wicked prolotherapy in that 2nd met and the plantar (oooh so fun), and a spanking for not doing a better job of keeping my left calf looser.

I'm throwing myself a party.

Best news I've had all day!!!  Yahoo, what time's the party?

Good luck to all our racers this weekend! I'll be offline until tuesday... camping in Canada on the beach, yay! look forward to reading the race reports when I get back. Sorry about the formatting... i'm on my phone

Great news Suzy, but I can't believe the guys are going to let that "spanking" comment slide.  Give 'em time . . .

I liked the dragon boat festival one they had a few days ago!  I love those little tea leaf wrapped rice thingies.  Super fave yumminess.  Eating an egg roll for you today, John.

Wow!  Guess it was my turn to kill the MG...

Well made it back.  It went pretty well - getting all the way down to even Z2 was not easy if not nearly impossible.  I did lower my average HR about 13-15 BPM, pace slowed by about a min/mile.  *BUT* - I ran the entire 56min!  I've been a run/walker until now.   Felt good the whole way... calves and shins are a little tight from a slightly shorter/different stride.  Not burned out or ill feeling at all.  Something to work on...

Again, Thank you MG!

Edit:  Just to clarify - the adjusted pace is my new running pace vs. previous run only pace (~8:20ish).  Looking back through my logs, I noticed the average paces are data skewed with all the run/walking.

Sounds like a much more enjoyable run, glad it went well for you.

I'm no expert, just learning and trying to improve, but I looked at your logs and you seem to spend a lot of time (like over 40%) in zone 3 or 4 on your rides. Your average speed is great, much better than mine, but I'd be trashed if I spent that amount of time in zone 4 on every session.

I'm sick at the moment... fever and cough since Wednesday, so I've done a bit reading and resting (but no exercise, CRAP!). Some interesting stuff about improved results with high intensity exercise - Endurance Nation etc.

BUT all those shorter, hard workouts seem to have mainly lower HR spinning/jogging with short, sharp hard intervals.

I'm going to add in intervals like this a bit more, maybe this would work for you too?

Checking in before we head to Minocqua for the weekend.  Best of luck to all of our racers, especially you CA girls and my favorite Badger boy!!!

Supposed to be downright chilly in the Northwoods, but the hope is to do two long rides this weekend since I won't be running.  Still happy as a clam regarding the foot news.  It hurts like the devil this morning, but expected it given the injections.....keeping the Kyla attitude on healing!  Also taking two dips in the lake and praying it is at least mid 50s by now.

Sporadic slow internet so won't be on much.

Ok I so far behind in the posts that I am going to have to start all over again here.
Did I miss anything important.. fun .. obtuse...gross... etc
Finally I get to race. We are doing a club chase on Sat. Just a short one but a good tune up for the Olympic next weekend. It's supposed to rain but the temp is going to be around 23C so should be  good for running if not so much for the bike. Really looking forward to it.

Good luck Roni, Kim and Linda.  Kick a$s and have fun!!!!!

Great news Suzy.

Kyla - you are hard core and totally ready to kick butt at Coeur d'Alene.

Great job on the run Brent.  Glad it was a more enjoyable experience and hopefully the rest of the day is better as well.

Everyone have a great weekend and be safe.

West coast folks - anyone have an experience and/or comments about the Santa Rosa marathon at the end of August.
