It helps to have the chart made up with race numbers, full name so the BTers can follow our progress.

I believe Aaron is looking for volunteers to do the updates.

Wow! ! !   What a change in the forecast.  Just a few days ago, the temps were supposed to be much cooler.  These temps are a little more like it for this Texan.

I am in Penticton right now, it is 29 degress Celcius and it got windy this afternoon, forecast is for upper 20's to low 30's on race day. Seeing lots of people coming into town.

We arrived in OK Falls a little while ago. It is warm but not humid so it feels cooler. At home, in MA 85 means 80% humidity, 85 here doesn't feel like 85 at home at all.

It is great to finally get here..not very easy to get to from East Coast, but that is part of the adventure.

Our place is great....4 bedrooms so we can all have some space.

Terrain is very different than I imagined. We drove up on what is part of the bike course.

Tomorrow will be busy as I have a swim and hope to meet up with Bill for that and 25 mile bike. I need to go to the Bike Barn shop and get some CO2. Also do some grocery shopping and get settled.

Let us late arrivers know what the bike course is like.  Like, is it what you expected or harder or easier.  I figure I'll ride the descent from Yellow Lake on Friday to see what that is like.

We would like to have a BT get together Thursday evening for dinner.

We are staying near Skaha Lake about 13K from Penticton.

We are thinking 6:30-until whenever...feel free to come stop by after dinner if you other plans.

If you'd like to bring something let me know.

We have kids (11-20) and have a fenced backyard and lots of space.

PM me for our address and phone numbers and how many of you might be coming. I totally understand things are flexible and change so that is fine.

Actually once you top Yellow Lake you have another short hill after the entance to the golf course. You can have someone drop you off at the turn off for the golf course, and start from there.

When you do the descent from Yellow Lake the turns will be tighter in practice since you'll be just on the shoulder. Race day you'll have the shoulder and one full lane.

When you reach the intersection of 3A and 97 be mindful of traffic. There's a stop light to go left back into town on 97. Again on race day you'll have more room than just the shoulder on 97.

This is cool. I can sense all your excitement. Been to Ptown many times and watched the race in 06. I was contemplating going this year to watch and cheer with the thought of signing up for next year, but life has intervened!

How many qualifiers are there for this race? I went to the Subaru site, and the info is deleted.

In any case, Good Luck to all of you guys, and after the race be sure head to Naramata to Real Things for some awesome pizza!!

Chatter, Chatter, Chatter. . .    We need some chatter on this thread. . . .

I am leaving out of D/FW Airport tomorrow.  Renting car in Vancouver.  Taking the scenic route, and getting to the Marriott in Kelowna about 8pm.

Going thru the most stressful part of the trip right now. . . .   Making sure I pack EVERYTHING I need.

Chatter, Chatter, Chatter. . . .

It is beautiful up here..last nights sunset was gorgeous.

The run course is pretty flat other than the hills near the turn around which the worst one is right by our house.

Water is pristine, clear and you can see quite far. If you have family coming with you and you do an ows, there is nice sandy beach for them to hang out on and bathrooms across the way in a little park. It is quite family friendly.

Groceries are probably at least 25% more than back home.

Yep, so my wife had that question.  Since it is not a good spectator course, as it is out an back on both the bike and run, my wife was wondering if there was any good beaches to hang around, and any good places to park and such.  I thought she could do one of two things:

1) Drop me off at 5am and go back to the hotel in Kelowna, and then return 12 hours later to see me finish.

or

2) She thought she might just find a good place to park, snooze a bit, hang out at a good beach area, walk around the town and the event.

So what do ya think? ? ?

She can probably stay with you until the start watch you finish the swim and go out on the bike, head back to the hotel rest a bit than come back to town and hang out in afternoon and wait for you to finish.

It is chilly in mornings and evening so be sure she brings a jacket. It is around 50 early and late and you guys are from Texas.

My family will come with me to start and stay until I'm out on the bike. We are close to the 8-15 mile loop on the bike so they may take 97 back the long way and away from bike start and watch me zip by then go back to our house, hang out for awhile nap. I'm not sure if they'll try to get back into town to see me out on the run. But either way our house is 4 houses off the run about 9  miles out and 9 miles from finish so they'll see me there and head back to town to finish.

OK. . .   So I have one more question for folks who have done an IM with a wetsuit swim.  Last year when I did Louisville the T1 bag was the same size as the rest of the bags.  Will my wetsuit fit into the T1 bag when I take it off?

Is that where it goes?  The wetsuit Triathlons that I have done, you shuck the wetsuit and leave it your area at trasition.

So, the question is:  What do I do with my wetsuit after I take it off?

I did it last year and I honestly cant remember what I did with my wetsuit. Sorry. I guess I was focused on what was coming. It either went in the bag or with the bag. My sister-in-law picked up my bags and bike after the race and brought everything back.

You will put your wetsuit into your transition bag at T1, it is large enough to fit your wetsuit as I have been using mine lately as a carry bag inside my backpack.

I made it to Penticton today and think the area is fabulous. I may not want to head back to Winnipeg. Very long drive but I enjoyed it. I'll swim tomorrow and check out the lake and drive the bike course early AM. I had a chance to bike the run course today and thought it seemed really neat going right along the lake. There were a couple of hills that surprised me there though.

Did a swim and bike today, finishing it off with a few Coronas right now at the hotel. We can NOT believe how quiet this town is. NO IM peeps out drinking at any of the bars on the main drag!! Oh well, I'll be out at the water around 0730, the fence line along the beach behind the Peach, waering my coveted BT tech shirt.....otherwise I'll be the guy floundering in the water. I'll also have the shirt on at the dinner, so watch for me, introduce yourself and sign my poster!!! Hope everyone has made it / is making it up here safe!
