Also, a little worried about making our connection and getting there in one piece. Did I mention I haven't started packing yet? |

Hmm, flying with a toddler, sure to be a different experience! Yeah, no kidding! We flew to San Francisco when she was 5 months old, but I had A with me. This time it's just us and she's a lot more mobile. I bought her a backpack and a bunch of toys and books she's never seen before, so that should help. Plus, we have Elmo movies and games on the Kindle, which always keeps her entertained. |

I CRASHED MY BIKE!! When I started my ride, the weather was nice. Then this stupid little storm cloud decided to follow me around and rain on me. "No worries" I thought. "I'll just HTFU". at 9 miles in - cruising at about 25 mph on a flat and I see railroad tracks. They are running at a diagonal angle across the road. The first track was recessed into the road. The 2nd track was not!!! My wet tire, hit the wet metal that was sitting above the road about 2 inches. It slide at a diagonal angle and down I went. I didn't have time to pop my front tire up over the railroad track. I haven't had to worry about tracks in this area, as they are all normally recessed into the road. A car was passing me, and there was no shoulder. I fell into the road, and I remember the car being pretty close to me. Of course, the first thing I did was jump up and check my bike! My calf cramped up - and I have a bit of road rash. I also have a pretty good gash on my left elbow, but I'll be ok. My baby had no scratches in the paint. Only the left peddle got a good scrape. Totally sucks, but mostly because I couldn't finish my ride, and I didn't do my run. Also had to cancel my swim lesson with my client. My Left hip
My Back (not too bad really)
My elbow (it got the worst of it)
Is it wrong to save that middle pic as my screensaver? Take care - shower is gonna hurt! Glad the bike is okay as are you. x Jo-you are too funny. I was actually going to say THANK YOU for crashing your bike! The middle pic definitely was eye candy, although a more front shot next time with abs would be appreciated. Welcome to the bike crashing club! Wear those war wounds proud, everyone crashes. We are just glad you are okay to take hot piglet pictures! Ice and motrin. You will be sore. How is the bike? Both of you ladies completely flatter me. I'm not going to lie - it's very nice to hear that I am "eye candy". It was not long ago that those words would never have been associated with topless pics of myself. One of the reasons I started tri's was to lose the weight so that when I took off my shirt at the pool in the summer, the eyes of the ladies would look towards me, not away! LOL. Go ahead - use it as your screen saver. I'm completely and utterly flattered. As for the ab's.... I still have some work to do in that area. FYI - the bike is fine.. need to re-wrap my bars, and true my wheels, but other than that, all is well. Thank goodness. Edited by Muskrat37 2013-06-12 2:30 PM |

Very sore elbow and hip today - but not as bad as I thought it would be. Is it weird that I feel like this crash takes my riding to another level? I'm sort of joking, but mostly not. I'm not even a little bit scared to get back on the bike. Actually, just the opposite, I can't wait to get back on the bike. I'm wondering when it will be comfortable though, because the gashes on my elbow are right where my arms sit on the pad in aero position. Hopefully it won't be long until it's comfortable to ride again. |

Very glad you are ok but for some scratches and bruises. See, this is why I ride my bike so slow - 25 mph is just too risky Yeah, that's why...
My top speed so far this year is 52 mph. I love, love, love to go fast. It's so exhilarating. I'm actually considering getting a larger front chain ring, just so I can go even faster on the downhills. This begs the following questions of my podmates.
For me, I get uncomfortable in aero at about 43ish, and move my hands to the horns. Last year I would move my hands to the horns at about 35 mph. I can average about 21 - 23 mph (without wrecking my legs) on a flat for 2+ hours |

"BACK IN THE SADDLE!!!!" my trainer ordered (as soon as I got back to the barn). I learned that lesson early. LOL That's awesome you're ready to jump back on. Bet if you give it a day or two, and give your elbow some extra padding, you'll be doing some miles like nothing ever happened...AND you've learned a few things about RR Xings. |

I am feeling TOOOOOONS better just being home but I know I can't confuse that with feeling physically better. I'm white rice better but nowhere near Pop Tarts better yet. How sad. Maybe tomorrow? I get to be here for TWO WHOLE WEEKS and there is going to be MASSIVE PIGLET INFLUX for the Bali Marathon and Bali Triathlon! I can't wait! So I HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO lay as low as possible and get better. |

I'll be taking my bike with me to log some miles, but there's no pool where I am (bummer). Had another PT appointment this morning. My knee has been bothering me again since the last sprint. I did a 2 mile run (was supposed to be 3) a couple days ago, and that buggered my knee again. The PT basically said she didn't know what was causing the issue, and that if it persists, I should get a referral to an ortho. Oh bother. This makes three summers in a row with injuries. |

Tom, get an MRI done. My DH hurt his knee at work a few weeks ago, he said it didn't hurt that much when he did it but it was fairly sore later that day and the next. He has now been restricted to light duties at work for 3 weeks and the specialist said that he has totally detached the muscle from the back of his knee cap and torn all of the ligaments. It requires surgery and 3-4 months of rehab after that. The interesting thing is that he doesn't think it hurts that much when his walking around. So you never know what damage you have done until you get it checked out. |
