[QUOTE]DougRob - 2010-01-29 3:26 PM I screwed up. I planned on going to the talk by Chris McDougall, the author of Born to Run, but just realized it is in a high school over two hours away. Even if I still wanted to go that far, I would by a 1/2 hour late. Frown

The book was a great read and very inspiring.  I 'd love to hear him talk about his experiences!

Went to boot camp today and the instructor didn't show up so I assumed a leadership role and basically taught a class. We did a lot of the stuff I used to do when I taught karate. We all worked up a pretty good sweat and ended up having a good work out.

All right, since tomorrow I rest, Mr. FattyFat pointed out that the month (for me, at least) is a wrap. (Although in all honesty I *should* throw in a core workout later today...) In any event, the SBR is wrapped up, so here are the totals. I'm a little sad about the run going down, but the bike needs my attention, and I am following my plan, so it is what it is! Now you show us yours, OK?

January's totals:
Bike:17h 47m 08s  - 246.17 Mi
Run:10h 28m 51s  - 63.5 Mi
Swim:7h 10m  - 20600 Yd
Strength:2h 42m
Yoga:2h 00m

OUTSTANDING!  I was looking at hotels this morning.  Not sure what I'm going to do yet.  Mandatory bike check Saturday plus i was to watch Glen, Potts and Reed rock the sprint.  Its about 50 minutes from the house.   Are you coming in solo?

Robert & Kelly... you guys coming in for this?  YES!

Hey!  Watch it.  My dad was a front line ARMY hard A#$ in WW II with three purple hearts to show for it!  I think he believes that if he says something good we will stop trying harder.  I am like the puppy looking for a little attention, right? Gotta suck it up.

Kyla--nice job on the numbers.  I have one more dayof RS so will hold off posting mine. I am ready to set my February goals....#1 exceed fun quotient by hula dancing on the beach, #2 apply more suntan lotion than Paul......couldn't resist.

Anything exciting going on?

We have 4-5 inches or so of snow.

Have a swim and a run tomorrow, should be nice and cold for that run.

Decided to HTHU today and get my workout in despite the 25 degree weather:

1hr bike on the CT -30min run outside - 1 more hr on the bike - 30 more minutes running.  Transitions were bit long since I had to go from sweaty bike dungeon to running in 25 degree weather (I am a cold weather wuss)

I am tired, I may hurt tomorrow but it was a good workout - I could actually feel my fitness increasing

January's totals:
Run:13h 46m 10s  - 76.75 Mi
Swim:1h 19m  - 3200 Yd
Strength:15m
Core Training:2h 40m

My numbers for the month..... and I am SUPPOSED to do 16 tomorrow.  I say maybe because I have to work in the a.m. on the other side of town so I really do hope I can be done and get back for our group run at 2:00.

I REALLY want to do a 100 miles this upcoming month.  It is doable if I just keep the motivation up and make sure my accountability goes both ways with the training partner.

Steve

OK, just doing that change of clothes once would be a nightmare, but to do it back and forth twice, yikes! Great workout!! Good job!

Great workout Andy!

We actually have everything covered in ice down here.  Snow would have been just fine.  No workouts yesterday, but am going to hop on the drainer today for an hour or so.

This past week was supposed to be a week to work on my run.  Unfortunately after the second of two five milers on Tuesday, my achilles tendinitis decided to make an unexpected visit.  This time, it is not at the point were the tendon meets the heel, but about halfway between - that is not good.  So, I stopped running.  I was able to get in a good bike on Friday and am going to try the whole running thing again on Monday or Tuesday.  My mistake was that I got a little excited and picked up the pace and ran some hills.  Bad combo.  I should have skipped the hills all together.  That has me rethinking my race in April.  1,000 feet of climbing in 2.2 miles on foot?  Not going to happen.  I'm afraid that will be my knockout blow.  I'm going to do the swim and bike, but skip the run.  I think I might go visit my sports doc to see what he thinks.  He is a triathlete so, I know he will give me some good advice.

Hey Barry--go ride your bike, will ya?

Hey Chris--sounds like a soleous issue to me....do you have the TP massage equipment?  if so pull out the block and the small roller and go to town like
this.  It is a relatively easy fix if caught early.

Did my first 20 minute consecutive run since November 7th.  Progress!

GREAT JOB!!! Congrats on the long run! And brrrr -- good for you on the ice bath! I've done those once or twice, but they are so miserable for me I don't do them anymore. I find a super-hot shower helps me feel better... followed by a huge cuppa coffee. Ahhhhhhhhh. Enjoy the rest of your day! You earned your R&R!
