Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Been MIA for a few days so here is my catch up.... Great job Trina on the weightloss so far. This lifestyle has a way of doing that. Suzy - you are sooooo going to be at Lonestar Memorial Hermann 70.3....even with a run/walk you'll still be miles ahead of me. Happychick- welcome to the mainland again...The 70.3 you were talking about? Lake Stevens?? As to Andy's question re:Lonestar. I feel like i am getting there. No idea what it will be like until the day arrives. I have a pretty good feeling that when i get my next month program from my coach there will be a few steady state 2:30-3hr trainer rides. What I am most curious about is testing my bike strength. I fell like I have a done a ton of work this winter so far, and hope to see some major improvements out there. Its hard to really see results when you're strapped to a trainer all winter. Swim will be good hopefully in a wetsuit and salt water. I'll be jumping on John's toes and riding him in. The run...we'll see. Running a 1/2 marathon next weekend. I feel like my fitness is pretty much back now from the summer, so we'll see. 8lbs left to get back to my peak weight from last year! I bought some Asics Nimbus 11 yesterday, so be testing them out today. ILast shoes were Sacouny Echelon....They felt like great runners, but I DESTROYED the heels on them at ~~400 km(250 miles). |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() DJ and Trina- Big congrats to both of you!!! Paul- Awesome job on the run! Steve- Thanks for the magazine link. Loved it! Suzy- The rest of the girls and I need you at Lone Star Texas 70.3 to kick the guys butts! Oh, and from what I see a lot of the people on here have jobs just for an excuse to be on BT. ![]() Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!!! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I ordered a Kestrel Evoke yesterday! Should get it next week. I've never actually owned a road bike, went directly from my hybrid to a Javelin Tri bike when they had them marked down to $400. I love my Javelin, but I do a lot of biking in the hills and just find it a pain to go to my aero bars to shift. So, I end up not using my gears as efficiently as I could be ( I know there's lots of controversy over this, but just my experience) Anyway, I'm really excited to get the new bike! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am headed to the LBS tomorrow to look at a Giant Trinity...09 model. He only has one so I am hoping that it fits! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() DJ - I have the same saddle on my road bike and are having some of the same issues. Loved the saddle for the past 2 years - got a tri bike recently with a different saddle - now the Terry feels weird on the road bike. I agree with Suzy and I think my issue is the same - bike fit issue and not saddle. Lets play with our fits and see if that helps. Remember you can also change the position of the handlebars and stem to adjust the fit, not just the saddle position. I also started from point zero running background and it took me about 8 weeks before I finally crossed the running hump. Be patient and keep running - it'll come together. SUPER JOB BOTH DJ AND TRINA WITH THE WEIGHT LOSS!!! Roni - Kestrels are great bikes. Can't wait for the bike porn! Paul - I thought I was the only one with the sky rocketing heart rate. Here is my last four miler for HR comparisions, AND THIS HAD WALKING BREAKS!!! I think my heart would explode if I ever reached your speeds! Great job!

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I seem to be in a weird place. I have not missed a workout and I am progressing toward my marathon. However, when I think of my first tri in April I am not excited. I think it is mainly due to lack of sleep. I have only gotten about 6 hrs./night the last three nights. It is kinda screwing me up. |

It is kinda screwing me up. i would love to get 6 straight hours of sleep in a night right now. our girls are horrible sleepers, we may get 1 or 2 nights/week where they sleep through. Like everyone says, sleep does a body good. Body needs to rest to recover. Could be a bit of fatigue too? You've been running up a storm lately. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Okay, next time I feel wimpy about getting on the trainer I'm going to look at this. Here is an update from Chrissie Wellington's blog. It has been a rough a few days but I wanted to update everyone by informing you that I fell off my bike during a ride on Saturday 2 January. The fall resulted in a few broken fingers and bones in my hand, wrist and arm. I underwent an operation on Monday 4 January to insert some wires in my wrist. The operation was a success and I am back home today. I should be out of plaster within 6 weeks. The good news is I will be staying in the Uk for the TCR Show and the 220 Awards Dinner so I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over those days in February (13th/14th). Smiles, Chrissie. Edited by tahrens 2010-02-04 10:51 AM (Wellington broken arm.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Wellington broken arm.jpg (26KB - 9 downloads) |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SSMinnow - 2010-02-04 4:55 AM I really love waking up to great news with the MG! Paul--really great job on the running. Can I ask how old you are? were you all out at a HR of 194? Trina and DJ--two cheers for you for the attitude shift AND the weight loss. Both are going to make you forces on the courses! Another rough day at the Shain household, a run, an elliptical, a swim, a visit to my mom and a party tonight! WOW, I'm exhausted. I did pick up some more work from my primary client, but that won't happen until I get back from Hawaii and even it will be way less than what the vast majority of you do daily. (except for Roni of course ![]() PS For a minute second I felt bad that Trina was dragging around after her tongue lashing from me, but I shook it off pretty quickly since she she is happy now and making tons of progress.....those "PEP" talks are done with love ya know! Wow, looks like you had a busy day. To answer your question, I am 34, and no I wasn't all out during my run. I really had no intention of running that fast, I just went out for a quick 20 min run, and 15 mins into it I looked down and thought my watch was broken. I typically don't run that fast, and have never made 3 miles in under 23 mins, I was in shock. My LSR's are typically in the 9:00-9:15 range, and the rest usually stay between 8:30-9:00/mile. |

Hope you like hills... there aren't many flat spots on the course. The swim is great because of the submerged buoy line; no need to sight, just look down and follow the rope! Birdy is right, though: you're practically in Canada. I think Lynden is about 3 or 4 miles from the border, and Bellevue/Seattle is 2 hours south. If you ever want to take a tour of the Lake Stevens course, let me know! |
