Alternatively (if you have sound out on the TV via RCA) you could just use a split RCA to 3.5mm female. You can then connect that to anything you want, including a powered bluetooth transmitter. Was going to suggest this. Something sure has been going right. 304 NP for just about 2 hrs this morning. Done to ISLAGIATT. Did you do that trick Marc mentioned where you put your quarq in the freezer, calibrated it, then warmed it back up before riding? I can't even fathom that. My totally newbie (I even screwed the date up within the first 5 seconds) attempt at GoPro video on the bike with telemetry overlay from my Garmin. Syncing up the data was the easy part if you believe that. Cutting down 29 minutes of video into something more watchable was what took the most time. It was below 20F all day yesterday? Interesting vid. Adding that in would be so helpful for some of the course recon I've done at times. |

I don't want to jinx her, I'm not sure if others have been watching but Yanti is quietly making her way to the finish of IMWA! 8k to go with the clock at 14:25. That may be the single most satisfying IM ever. Congrats to her. |

I actually have a GoPro video from Muskoka 70.3 (not a very good copy), but would love to overlay my PT or Garmin data. I don't think I can get the PT data on it since I was using a wired PT at the time. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN I used dashware software. You can download it as a free trial and have all the functionality without publishing the video. The software actually costs $50. The videos they make for car racing using the software is unreal. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Escorted the wheelchair racers at the Honolulu Marathon this morning. Super fun, and so much better than actually running...LOL. Funny because the race attracts a really good pro field...usually at least 3-5 of the top 10 Kenyans/Ethiopinas. This year some Japanese AGer went off the front and had a 2.5 minute lead up to mile 19. But there was a pack of 7 that were chasing him and eventually reeled him in after he blew up (he finished 2:37). The race was a bit muggy, and the winning time was over 2:18 (normally around 2:12)...but it's just amazing how these guys have the race dialed in like a science. The chase pack ran a 1:11:30 first half, and the winner ran a 1:07 second half. Just goes to show that these guys are racing...not trying to PR. Edited by Jason N 2013-12-08 8:18 PM |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN So, just need a little reassurance... 2013 was my best run year ever. 2013-14 was supposed to be a run focus and up that even more. Trying to get rid of this foot issue is now going on two weeks, and although it seems to be resolving, it's extremely so (and hard to even tell it's resolving, but that's what I am telling myself - it comes and goes randomly). At least another week, probably more, of no running. The B of it is it doesn't hurt when running, but running aggravates it so it gets sore walking. Feels like I am going to lose all of my run fitness that I built up and have to start from scratch with 10 minute runs.... I have always resisted water running as I don't have easy acces to a deep pool, and hate the elliptical, but may have to swallow those and do em anyway..... |

Extreme Veteran 5722 | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN Chris 2x in the last 2 years I was off for a full month and my run fitness came back pretty quickly. It's scary, especially in the early days when you come back, you are slower and wonder if it will take long to come back. But it comes back. What I find hard is deciding when to run on it when still sore. This is the best time of the year to be injured, if there is such a thing as a good time. I am coming out of an achilles injury, which I suspect I will always struggle with. I find it hard judging when to run and when to rest. I have been dealing with it since 1 week before Miami and did my longest run since = 8miles last night. |

Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN I didn't run at all the summer of 2012. I struggled for 2-3 weeks as my body reacclimated. Runs were much slower than normal, and none of them felt "good." After about 4-6 weeks though, I felt like I had at least got my base back. It will be interesting to see if I get back into tris for 2015...how my running will be. By that time, I may not have run in 11 months...LOL. |

Veteran 1677 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia Season II - OPEN If it makes you feel at all better, I was out of running for over a year. While I don't think keeping my bike and swim fitness directly translated to being able to run again, it certainly didn't hurt. After three months of consistent running, I got a new 5k PR (not that I was running for that long, and certainly not as consistently, before my injury, but I was surprised at how quickly the fitness did come back). It really does suck when you first start running again. I started with 10 minute runs....and they weren't easy! But I'm sitting right about 20 mpw at the moment and it's a huge victory. Taking the time off to deal with an injury sucks, but coming back too early and setting yourself back even more is way worse. Take the time to let your foot heal -- and if you still aren't running come the New Year, I guess you'll have to suck it up and aqua jog |

It must be such a rush to watch that kind of race and support the event. And, yeah, racing is more fun than PR'ing (although I'll take either - and even better, both!) Matt |

I have always resisted water running as I don't have easy acces to a deep pool, and hate the elliptical, but may have to swallow those and do em anyway..... For ME, less than a month take a week to come back, and I come back stronger than before (I tended not to rest enough in the past). Same thing happened this fall - took a few weeks off to very low mileage and came back with a great short race (and then decided to take a bit more time off - even a thick skulled type can learn). More than a month to less than three months takes 2x or so the layoff to come back. Beyond three months and I don't know, as the couple of times I've gone beyond 3 months, I've gone waaaay beyond it and had to start all over - like I'd never run. Ugh... So, for what you're describing, I'd suspect you'll come back fairly quickly (2x or less times the amount of time off) and perhaps even stronger if your previous year was a larger stress year than historically. As for when to come back, someone suggested to me to wait until you're SURE you can handle the running, then wait two more weeks. Tough advice, but he's been right more often than wrong (and I still don't always do it!). Really hard to know when is right to come back, IME. Don't fret! Matt ETA: although I never have done it, I wish I had done some pool running the last couple small injuries. Even if only to tell myself that I was doing everything I could… Stronger psyches than mine might not need to, of course. Edited by mcmanusclan5 2013-12-09 6:28 PM |

I think as you get older you will actually find it takes even longer to come back after a running break. I missed about 6 weeks with pneumonia... yeah just what I need - another assault on my lungs. I've started running again and distance isn't bothering me but the times are slow for the moment. But I can see them coming down already and I'll be fine when I taper in a couple more months. I know it's a little different with an injury that you can aggravate but just build up carefully and you'll get there. |

I am still waiting for Prime Minister Harper to summon us to Ottawa for our award for representing Canada against the much more favoured US team. |
