so I did another run-through of my transitions...went well, feel good about that. Had a nice easy spin on the trainer, and tonight I have an easy 30 minute run. A few days ago I had that "why am I so tired, I can't even find the energy to walk around the house" I am starting to perk up again, so that is good. I started laying out all my piles of stuff! Its getting close!!!

personally id prefer colder air and warmer water. we had that in florida. it was nice to get in perfect warmer water after freezing sand. im less bothered by those temps on the bike than others given my clydesdale status. whats the bet between the petites and the clydes gonna be?

My knee is feeling way better so I'm no longer worried about if for race day.   Ran 4 miles and rode on the trainer for an hour yesterday with no discomfort, and today (no workouts planned) it's feeling even better.

Whew.

Just finished Macca's book last night....pretty inspiring.

Piggy back rides?  I think we'd benefit from that one a bit more

I'm too busy to have taper crazies!! But, it's okay.  I'm off for an OWS tonight with my coach and then doing some "race talk" prep. A couple of things.

1. Thanks for the offers my bike storage questions-- I'm good to go! BT Rocks!!
2. We have some s/b/r link ups planned for the group (primarily the swims on Thurs/Fri at 0800 at the Moose/Flagpole near the lake)
3. We NEED to have a link up at dinner.  I have never gone to the dinner at CdA (just been spectator)--is there a spot and time that would be good for this? We REALLY need a picture.  If someone brings a picture/sign of the HB w/ them for the photo, it'd be even more awesome.
4. Anyone getting into town on Wed. and interested in grabbing chow (that's army lingo for FOOD) that evening? My housemates (sherpa and another army racer--fast dude!) don't show up till Thurs/Fri?
5. San Diego peeps--I'm driving up there, if you are flying and would like to put something (preferably not too large--like CO2, extra tubes, stuff like...but I could take a wetsuit even) in my car, I head out on Sunday morning. I am in Tierrasanta, you could drop if you're not far away--if you're more north county, I'll be up in Oceanside on Sat. to see off my Team's RAAM racers and could link up w/you after that.  Just shoot me a PM or email me at [email protected].

My flight from Phx arrives in SPokane at 4 pm Wednesday.  So, a friend and I are expecting to be there around dinner time. Would love to meet up and get a bite. Riorio introduced us at IM Arizona this past year. I'll PM my contact info.

I'll be up there later afternoon Wednesday as well so I'd love to get together for some dinner. I will bring a picture of the HB for the dinner on Friday night

Shermbelle - 2011-06-15 9:53 PM For those using Tribike Transport, what are you using to tag your bike, wheels and gear bag with? I think I can get some  luggage tags but I know they suggested putting something inside wheel bag and gear bag too. Maybe I am overlooking something here.

I just used luggage tags, inside and out on the gear bag.

Yeah I went and bought some and put them on and then I get there and they have tags there that they put on my stuff so a bunch of work for nothing.

tamason - 2011-06-16 12:05 PM Current lake temp 54.5 degrees.  10-day forecast for Sat is 65 and rain.  Are we all going to have fun or what!!?

I could do without the rain.  Cold temps, bring them on.  It was 101 when I ran on Tuesday.  Almost 95 today.  My body will be loving the cooler temps.

Same here, not worried about rain for me and my race, but it will make me worry about my cheering section.

A) I hope that we are racing on Sunday.  Otherwise my whole plan is puckered.

B) How can "they" call it a 10 day forecast AND include the CURRENT DAY.  That, my friends is a 9 day forecast with current weather conditions.

Taper madness gonna getcha!

I just boughted a totally new fuel belt.  No chance that I am going to risk new chafing areas.

Maybe I should go for a lil' 18 mile run to test her out!

Accu Weather has a 15 day forecast.  It looked bad a few days ago, then it looked really good a day later, then it looked......

Sweet.  We used that service for IMFL and it worked like the bomb.  Wife got automatic pings to her cell letting her know whenever I went over a timing mat.  Very nice.   If you hear anything there phat, please let us know.

I think this might have already been covered but the taper has got ahold of me and I seem to find myself staring at my Cervelo trying to figure out the best way to carry my spare tubular.  I'm running an 808 front and 1080 rear and already have my 1080 valve extender set up on the spare, but any pics of what you're doing is appreciated.  I'm planning on the behind the seat method.

Thanks for the ideas/info.Smile

Woohoo! Today I got the ok from my PT to cover the marathon portion of the race. Laughing

It's been a long road back from the ankle ligament rupture & tear, but I've been running for a while and now we're confident I can make it through without setting myself back. I'll probably only be able to run about a third of it because my running mileage the last couple months isn't enough to support running the whole distance.  I'll walk the rest and do my best to be a moving cheering section for all you folks running past me, if I'm actually in front of anybody at that point.  For me, it will truly be a case of just being happy to finish before the cutoff.  I'm psyched to not have to call it a day after the bike.

Now I have to figure out what to put in my T2 bag because I hadn't been planning on using that ...

Alright, y'all.  Now I'm getting the sore throat thing.  Tea, emergen-C, theraflu, lozengies...  Argh!

I know this has been covered, but who is racing on latex tubes?  I rode on them last week in training with no issue.  And then while airing up my tires right before entering transition at the local olympic tri on Sunday, POP!  The tube blew.  The 2 side-by-side holes were an obvious pinch flat.  So now I'm a bit freaked about using them for CdA.  I'm going to be VERY close to the bike cut off.  A blown tire could make or break the day.  On the flip side, a little free speed could help things out.  Thoughts?
