Thanks Tony....I thought the same about the white bar tape when I saw it....I will likely let it go black as you said, but maybe I can find a easy way to keep it clean.....

Thanks for the tip, Tracy. I had no idea about the reflectors....I am going to look like a newbie enough as it is, so don't want to attract any more snickers than I have too.....As for the Ahrens, just looked at the web site....maybe that will be my next ride.....when I get ready to HIM's and IM's....someday.

Mett - 2010-02-09 10:20 AM Foot still hurts so I cannot run but I made a huge accomplishment in the gym last night. I got my max bench in at 225. I am overly pleased as I was just cleared from a broken elbow in October. This was from the accident on my bike. Hopefully the foot heals soon so I can run again. Too much snow to bike here.

Hope the foot feels better.  Congrats on the lifting milestone.  It has been about 10 years since I have done that...before my first son was born.  I'd be lucky to get 160 up now!

Weightlifting is one of the parts I enjoy the most. I am hoping to break 300 by 2011, I am a big guy so we will see what happens. I just cant wait for it to warm up so I can start training a lot harder.

When I bought my first bike the owner (a friend of mine) stopped me as I was wheeling it out the door and started cracking the reflectors off!  My first thought was "WTH are you doing to my bike!!?!?!?"  He told me I owed him a beer for protecting my reputation.  Quite silly really considering they are there for safety reasons.  But I'll bet you'll be checking out the wheels of every cyclist you pass for a while.  Wink  Enjoy her, she is a beauty.  And I love the white. White bikes always look faster to me.

Yeah, I still had reflectors when I took my bike in for a fit. The guy also peeled off the sticker saying the bike's size (I thought, "Hey!! What if I need that information some day!!") Ironically, there is a strong chance I'm getting a new TT bike (!!) and was just figuring out sizing today... and was trying to figure out my current bike's size! LOL! Good thing I saved all of the paperwork on it, huh?

Not 100% sure about new bike... I joined a friend's tri team and can get a pretty sweet discount on all 2010 Specialized Transitions... but also learned from the sponsoring bike shop today that they are in really short supply due to under-production in anticipation of low sales due to the economy. Apparently sales aren't dropping though, so now they don't have bikes. Bummer. Waiting to see how long the wait will be before I pull the trigger.

Sorry 'bout the snow, easterners. Come to Washington. This winter is just positively amazing. I rode outside yesterday and my face got a sunburn!! Today is sunny with blue skies, temps in the 50's. I wish I had another long ride to do today as I hate to waste it, but alas, it was a run/swim day.

Oh, and btw, Suzy, my IM plan is 24 weeks. My coach knew I had recently done a marathon, so the running base was there. While waiting to start the plan, he just suggested biking 3-4x a week for about 60-90 minutes, running a few times a week and swimming if I felt like it. I'd imagine that people doing longer plans might need to build up to even those kinds of workouts. Clearly, you don't. If your foot were 100%, you could probably do an 8-week plan and be just fine!! Tongue out

Glen...you are going to love this bike.  I ride one just like it (2009 version) and it is a sweet ride.

Well...got the news from the Doctor today...surgery for Reno...and I am happy about that.  It means that if I go ahead and have it then I will still be able to do Augusta.  He said I could still do the marathon in March if I can tolerate the pain but I am not going to try to even test it until next week.  We shall see about that but I am leaning towards going ahead and setting up everything with Mack-The Knife and get this party started....I ain't gettin any younger.

I had to laugh when reading this as a (BT) friend of mine told me after our first ride together that I seriously need to take mine off so I don't look like such a newbie and do you know that I always look at that on other bikes for some reason! Silly, I know!

Glen--Really nice bike....I like the design. Are you adding aerobars?

Trina--Awesome news...you are definitely on your way.  What is the key to dropping the time?

Steve--buddy, sorry to hear about the surgery, but happy Augusta is still in your bullseye.  Take time to make the decision on the marathon, huh? While you aren't getting younger, you are getting better!

Tracy--Welcome Back, we missed you.  How about a running/PT update?

Thanks to all of you who gave me advice on the IM training plan timing.   I don't spend a lot of time looking at people's volume so I guess it sent me over the edge when so many people are already in the midst of IM training.  With limited running, I feel behind the 8 ball.

Ready for a PSA?  So the foot has been nagging, not in the area of the stress fracture, but on the 4th digit itself.  I noticed while doing my TP work that my soleus/calf was really sore.  Went and got ASTYM done on it and while it wasn't perfect when I left yesterday, it felt great all day today, even with the double bike.  The moral of the story is sometimes that pain isn't caused by the obvious thing...you gotta dig.  For those with nagging injuries some food for thought. Ok, my 30 seconds is up.
  Have a great night!

I agree... Keep the white (use simple green to wipe down every once in a while, or that junk mehcanics use to get the grease off their hands- that works great!)

Tracy- I did the same thing to my buddy.  He was stumped.  He just bought the bike, and I broke the reflectors off.  He was just looking at me w/ a blank face.  Thanked me later though !

Thanks, Suzy. I'm not quite sure, but I think it's a combination of increasing endurance and using catch-up strokes. And being super relaxed.

I am happy to report that my arm is much better and I even got a run in this morn!  My fingers/hand are almost completely fine and while my shoulder still hurts, I can at least do normal everyday things without whining!   I do think I will be paying my doc another visit though as I can't keep doing this everytime I do a longer swim!

Also, my hubby picked up his retirement orders so things are rolling along now.  We will be flying out and officially reside in WA come 1 May!!

Well, let's see...it is the weekend so I am going to chage it up a bit...I will be going to a wrestling tournament on Saturday and skiing on Sunday and Monday.  Kids start winter break next week so I am taking Monday off.  My cousin and his family are coming up to stay and ski with us.  Pretty scary, 4 adults and 7 kids (3 of them under 4 years old!!).  I may need a vacation from my vacation day on Monday!

Suzy...if you are going to do an OWS...can't think of a better place to do it than Hawaii.  Rock that swim!!

I have my 1st race of the year. Running a 1/2 marathon on Valentine's Day. Temps look to be around 40F, and no snow so should be decent running weather for this time of year. Should be interesting though. I'm totally treating it as a 'C' race, don't want to hurt myself. But my bro-in-law is running it as well....And he hasssssssssssss to be beat me. So my plan is to run it 300m behind him for the first half of the race until he collapses, then I'll pass him.
Even though its a 'C' I hope to PR it as I only have one half to compare it to.

No racing plans for me.  I have a long run and long ride planned, but that seems to be on the schedule every weekend now that we are getting into heavy base building for the season. Registered for the first sprint on my schedule for yesterday with a pool swim to try break up my training a little.  I have high goals (sub 1:20 or so) for this only sprint on my race schedule for the year.

Exciting news for me though, I have been working all winter to get a used set of rollers for my bike and really wanted one with a resistance unit on it.  Found one yesterday on Craigslist for $95.00 and it has the resistance unit on it already!  I have to drive to Green Bay to pick it up this weekend but am willing to do that to save $250+ or so.  Let the bike handling training begin.

Finally dug out from the snow.  It amazes me that we can get 14" of snow over 24 hours and nothing gets delayed and the roads are actually really cleaned up nicely.  Hats off to the city workers for staying up all night!  Sure messes up that training schedule though!

Good luck to you folks out east....here is comes again!  Laughing

Dino

P.S.  Suzy, have fun in Maui.  Man am I jealous after spending 2+ hours moving snow this morning.  Have a drink for me!

Does anyone have any opinion on these two pairs of shoes:

Mizuno WAVE Creation 11 or the Puma Complete Velosis LTD.

They are considered a Neutral Pluse shoe, which I've been told I need.  The shoes that I'm in now have givin me Shin Splints.

Any advice would be great!!!
