Hey Heres some motivation for all your racers out there this weekend:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fmZmKsL5eE

Little talk about 'team' at the end, but  very motivating.

Sam's cat peed on my suit, I smell like cat pee today, awesome...

Just told her I am going home today to pee on the cat to even it up, is that bad?

Ewwww.  So glad you're not my officemate.  Few things worse than the smell of cat pee.

And thanks for guilting me into finally getting my tush to a LBS for a maintenance class. I knew how to do these things once but that was decades ago.  And if all goes well this afternoon, I might have to learn on a new bike (I hope, I hope, I hope).

You guys are killing me with these bike maintenance issues.

If you have the time, I would recommend taking one of the Park Tool courses they offer at bike shops.  They will teach you basic bike maintenance, how to do the day to day maintenance needed to keep your bike running.  Or at least a basic bike maintenance course where they teach you how to change a tire and make very small adjustments.

I try to never rely solely on Co2 when out riding, I always carry a small pump, I think I have the same one Kim has, it fits in my saddle bag.  I also usually carry 2 spare tubes just in case.

LOL!!!  you're killing me!  a bike maintenance course to learn how to change a tire.  really? give me a break.  something so elementary should be learned in the garage, not some "class".  same goes for general maintenance and cleaning.

i've relied on co2 and *i think* i have a few LONG solo miles over the past few months.

The Park Tools course covers pretty much everything a home mechanic would want to do to a bike I believe, how to adjust derailleur's, change cranks, etc, and maybe even truing wheels, good class that will save you money in the long run.

The basic mantenance stuff and tire changing are usually free hour or so long courses held by LBS's where they go over the techniques and have someone walk around to make sure you get it.

I've had issues like Steve before with C02, where it just doesn't work as expected or I'm trying to go so fast I screw it up.  I like having the pump as a backup and it doesn't take up much space.

Sorry Tony, but I don't think that going to bike class will help me remember to bring tubes on a ride.  Nor checking the seal in my CO2 inflator before I leave for a ride.

LOL, the comment wasn't directed to you, you can't teach common sense ; )

perhaps there was more to his comment than what you're reading.

you just can't teach experience

Hey gang. How ya'all doing. I've been pretty busy here adn have missed several days conversation. Hope I didn't miss anything important or disgusting ..
Had a good week working out just haven't logged it yet. Had my bike to the LB and had it looked at. Guy said the bike is like me. Getting old but still is pretty good working order.
Good luck to all those racing this weekend. I was going to but then my wife decided she wanted to go to the cottage on Sunday (race day) instead of Monday.  We all know gotta keep momma happy. If momma aint happy nobodies happy.
Have a great weekend all.

I may not know a lot about bikes but I do know what I'm talking about when heading out for a long ride.  Just consider yourself lucky that you have not had any malfunctions with your CO2.

And for crying out loud - please stop attacking people when they post their own opinion.  That's what this group does - it's all opinion.  No right, no wrong answers.  You are great fun and we love ya but this is getting old.  Have your say and move on.

Just wrapped my tubes in saran wrap.  Who'd thunk.  Got both in my behind-the-saddle pack, only had to take out the kitchen sink.   Hope I don't need it out there!  I've never raced with this little amount of stuff before.

Just got a 2011 Felt B16 yesterday and went on my first ride on it today.  Have never riden a TT bike before.  Different.  Good thing is I did not crash and on my first ride on it my average MPH was about 2 MPH faster that my past rides.  The only thing is no my lower back and neck are sore.  Is this normal, something that I will adjust to?

Congrats on the bike!!  Pics?  If it feel like pain just because you used different muscles, I think you're fine.  Love the speed! Did you get fit on it?  Sometimes a little tweak is all it takes.

Congrats on the bike!

There could be a bit of adjustment to the new position.  Did you get a fit with the bike?  If so did they do any flexibility tests?  I would love to have the position of Dave Luscan here on BT but just looking at it makes my back tighten up.  So I worked with my fitter to find the most aero position that didn't make my back tighten up.  As for the neck, I found that it just takes some time to get used to holding you neck in that position, after awhile my pain there went away.

I just found out that my race on Sunday will have wetsuit strippers.

What is the best way to utilize these people?  Do I unzip and pull the suit down to my waist and let them do the rest or should I just let them do it all?

Then again if there are too many people, I will just run past and do it myself!!

Unzip, pull it down to the waist. As you are running up, point to the guy you are going to go to. make it evident that you are coming to him. Find the big guys.

fwiw, it would be impossible i think to pull it down yourself as quick as they can rip it off you.

you're slightly amusing.  maybe if you actually pay attention to what others talk about you would have noticed a posting or two from me over the past few years about blowing through several cartridges on a ride.  so yeah, sam *pats on head* i've been there, you're really not that special.

you wrote  "Spoken by someone who has not gone through or witnessed going through 3-4 CO2 cartridges on a ride." that's not opinion.  that's stating something about my training which you know absolutley nothing about. so sam, learn wtf an opinion is rather than acting like a know it all a$$ when it comes to what i've done and what i've sacrificed over the past several years.

as far as getting old, as i posted to tony, perhaps you as well should read a little more into what people are saying to you.  both of your acts are old and tiresome.  and i'll continue to call both of you on it.   if you don't like it, you're free to leave.  stay or go, i could care less.  just keep you ignorant commentary about my training to yourself.

Depends on how far from the water the strippers are . If close.. zipper if further ...zipper and top to waist .  Generally I would say undo the zipper and let them do the best. The two ladies stripping me at my HIM each grab a shoulder yanked the top off in one pull. I hit the ground on my back and they pulled the rest of with one more good yank. I was off and running to transition.

Speaking of reports, I'm a bit behind on my reading. I'll get caught up this weekend. This is the first weekend I haven't been traveling or out in the woods for months. Love traveling and camping, but it's nice to have a weekend without 6+ hours of driving! Have a great weekend everyone!

Good luck to all the racers this weekend!

Just got back from my first ever bike road race... it was a fairly small local event but...

Came in 2nd overall!! WOOHOO!
Check out my RR

One of my other training ride buds won it. So we must be doing something right out there.
Great race and we all had a lot of fun!
