"Congratulations! You’re receiving this email because you’re one of a select group of triathletes in the U.S. who has finished in the 11-20 percentile of your age group in at least one USA Triathlon-sanctioned local race over the past year. But, as you may know, those who finish in the top-10 percent automatically qualify for the Olympic-distance race on Aug. 10 at the 2013 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee.

In other words, you’re sooo close.

USA Triathlon would love to see you in Milwaukee, so we wanted to let you know there’s still time to qualify. If you improve your performance slightly and finish in the top-10 percent of your age group at any race distance during just one sanctioned event by July 11, you’re in. So     visit our online race calendar today to find a sanctioned event near you.

Or, simply lock-in a race slot for Milwaukee now! Yes, you can grab a spot on the start line by registering today for the USA Triathlon Sprint-Distance National Championships on Aug. 11. Unlike the Olympic-distance division, the sprint features open registration (no qualification necessary) and, based on your finish, you can even earn the right to represent the United States at the 2014 ITU Age Group World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada."

That's cold.

Kind of like when my son says, "You're the best mom I've ever had."

Umm. Okay. Thanks?

You all are just scared to come out here and race...

Easy to smack talk when the chances of being called out are much lower...LOL

All - been MIA lately from BT and will continue to only be sporadic online. Life at work has gotten very difficult lately.

I have enjoyed all the smack talk for this weekends race. Wish all 4 of you the best races possible.

Just got the same email and my wife is laughing her as s off (I'll say she's laughing with me, not at me - well, not entirely, at least).  She suggested trying to find an even less well attended race to bolster my chances (if you're the only on in the AG, it's a lot easier).  Very kind, but that's the norm 'round these parts.  Wink

I wonder if they know just how funny this is?  They're either comic geniuses or have ZERO sense of humor.  Tongue out

Creating Strava segments simply to nick them?  So, I get a notification that someone has stolen my "Xterra Redondo Beach crown."  WTF is an "xterra redondo beach"????    Cllick on the link, and some guy found a trail training run I did, did it faster than me (which is, in reality, not hard to do), and then named it and claimed the crown.  Huh?   Clearly he found my route first and copied it because it's fairly atypical and takes a few unexpected turns.

That's sort of the d bag part of strava

I've actually found that Strava occasionally creates segments on its own and names them.  Really weird, but has happened several times (on the bike and running, both).  Probably not what happened with you, but I've found it odd (although it's always nice to get some Strava bling!).

And, yes, d-bags abound on Strava.  Just gotta take those segments back.  Tongue out

Got in my longest OWS ever.  3k meters which actually wasn't as bad as I thought.  I even was able to maintain my normal 2k meter pace with plenty left in the tank.

Go team BT (and to Team USA, bring the chalice back to the States!)!

Bon chance, all.  Enjoy the suffering.  Laughing

I'm going to be carrying my GTU-10 tracker tomorrow.  If you go to this link, I think you will be able to follow it - you might need to create a Garmin account if you don't have one, I'm not sure.  The tracker should go live around the time I will be out of the water - it will only let me setup a session of a max of 5 hours.

Whoa...talk about some perspective.  I had an idea that Arend was tall...you know...since freakish fish tend to look like Michael Phelps but good lord...they should call the race Mont Arendlant.  I'd be lucky if I'm as tall as his armpit.  LOL.

Good luck everyone...have fun and race hard.

Attempting to check in from France. My devices are sketchy in picking up wifi so I'm trying to get my Dad's circa 1995 laptop to function properly....

IM France is tomorrow. All my gear is checked. Early 0630 start. We got some nice swag bags here...I would post but that is not happening right now. It is basically a full sized tri bag with a wet compartment. Nothing super crazy but different from the bags they give out at NA IM races.

I'm ready for this (I think)...if one of my splits seems slow around 50-70km...it's because I there is a cat 1 climb there (I know it is 20km...but some guy told me today it would qualify as a cat 1)...oh man...

Got in a long ride of just under 100 miles.  Wasn't planning to go nearly that far but last night I got word that a couple training buddies of mine would be riding 100 in preparation for IM Switzerland in late July.  I figured I would bring my road bike and just suck wheels if I needed to or simply turn around early.

I started conservative early on, brought and ate lots of food and actually felt great despite their being some nasty 20-25 mph winds.  I actually watching my avg power slowly rise the entire second half riding a lot just under HIM power with some 5+ minute efforts at sweet spot.  The last 35 minutes I figured I would just cruise it in but my legs refused and maintained the avg power.  Best of all...it was fun.

x2 Jason - the first thing I thought when I saw real pictures of every is "I gotta change my predictions....".

Good luck everyone safe and fun races for everyone, and that includes you, Melissa, even though you might already be done - now I have to go check your results as well - def a busy and exciting day for the group!

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
