Hey long time no chat with anyone.

Thought I would drop by and just say hello. I have pretty much missed this whole season with a knee injury after being hit by a car while running.

Good old Canada and Free healthcare just finally had my MRI on Monday night after waiting since June.

Now I am told my specialist can't see me until Feb 6th. I will be a bit more assertive and look for someone else.

I hope everyone has had a great race season. Hope to see you more through the fall and next spring while rehabbing after surgery.

Sorry to hear about the injury, you should have posted earlier about it and we could all have whined about dangerous drivers and near miss incidents!

That's a LONG wait for a scan, the radiology companies around here will do one for $150 at the moment with only a few days wait.

Can you swim? Might be a good opportunity to do some strength work too?

I agree. Sorry to hear this, but you need to go find a new specialist ASAP. 5 months? No way. That is insane.Good luck racing peeps!!!!

Have to share this will all of you.  I high school sophomore just broke the XC girls record for the state of Indiana.  She ran the (trail) 5k in 17:14.

I love her coaches advice, "Be humble; be hungry; think big; live small."

The article also talks about her previous injuries and how she's been working on her form.  Sound familiar???

As Suzy is off enjoying a well earned hiatus, I have been given the honor of asking this week's Wednesday question. So let's hear it!

Who's racing this weekend!?!? What are your goals and race strategies? For everyone not racing, Brent has brought up a great topic. What are some strategies you all have used to get through muscle cramps while racing or during training?

Parents weekend for my Badger on Sat.  Here is to hoping Wisconsin can beat UTEP?  Really, man they look terrible!  Terps, you can have your Maryland quarterback back!

I also have CX again on Sun.  There will be no Podiums for me this weekend as I will be racing with the BIG DOGS at the USGP Planet Cup in Minnows back-yard.  My strategy is to not get pulled or lapped during the race, since folks from all over the world will be in town because it is a UCI race and the 45+ Masters field is not categorized.  Should be interesting to see how I ride and where I finish!  If I can hold my own for the entire race it will sure help my lower my points ranking and will help my starting position for the rest of the races this season.

Good luck to all the racers out there......  REPRESENT!!!

For those currently on the "IM to Couch" program, enjoy!  For those currently on the "OMG, there is only 5 weeks till IM Florida" plan, time to get your work done as Taper is just around the corner!  Laughing

& how about that starting QB for the Seahawks?  On Wisconsin!

No racing for me this weekend... still in my post marathon slump.  Back to training next week.

Good Luck to those out there on the course this weekend.  Show 'em what you got!!

Cramps -- Someone had asked if I was wearing compression gear - I was not.  I've never had cramping issues in hard training runs, so this was new territory.   I am going to try some SaltStick or other like supplement.  I am a very salty sweater so I think this is where I will get the most aid.   Also, interested in the pre-race salt loading protocol that Suzy has mentioned before...

Doug, hang in there.  In 2011 I was laid off at the beginning of the year, spent the summer IM training and landed my current job the week post IM.   Therefore it all worked out for the best.  As I'm sure it will for you too.

Good luck to all you racers this weekend!

Would really appreciate any prayers, meditations, positive thoughts, whatever your preference, for my daughter's boyfriend, Jason. We just found out he has a mass in his brain. All they know, so far, is that it's large, in the left temporal lobe, and there is a high probability it is malignant. They are having a consult with a neurosurgeon on Tuesday. The two of them just moved to Bozeman, MT to complete their college degrees. This really sucks. I think everyone is mostly still in shock at this point.

That sucks Doug. Everything happens for a reason. You'll be in a better situation in no time. Talk to Jordan. maybe you can be the full-time ST legal counsel.
