Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() gdale - Isn't Tri-Chic from Austin?! Well folks.....I just did it. I just ran a 5K without stopping to walk! I am soooooo excited I can barely stand it! And it was an improvement on my time from when I'm on the TM (time is in my training log). So I guess I'll be ready for my race this weekend! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2010-02-18 1:37 PM jvanis - 2010-02-18 1:22 PM I was told on garmin forums that it pulls in the following order: 1. Power sensor speed (for a rear wheel power sensor) 2. GSC10 speed 3. GPS speed 1. Power sensor cadence (from a crankset power sensor, not PowerTap hub) 2. GSC10 cadence. 3. PowerTap hub cadence. Since I have the GSC10 it would make sense that cadence displays correctly. I just have the PT hub and not an external CycleOps one. Cadence: From GSC10 unit/magnet on crank arm (more accurate than from hub alone) Speed: PT Hub Batteries were replaced when I got the hub, so only a month or so ago. I had thought about removing the GSC10, but that would only result in my data being skewed for distance, power, and cadence then. The reason I lean towards it being a Garmin issue is that my LYC properly reports data, does not drop connection with the hub during the workout etc. in your post on the garmin thread you wrote this. "I notice that my power field will often blank out on the garmin like it is not receiving transmissions, but I cannot tell if this is also correlated to the 0 speed readings as that is not a data field I track. Any thoughts?" query your file to 0 speed and you'll see that they do correlate. i've got to think its the garmin not the pt, as do you. i also have to believe that somehow the 310 is measuring speed off the cadence. interesting post from T_SMIT. ha! guess that means you should by an SRM. then no worries! Feel free to PM me your cc info and I will order the SRM tonight ![]() |

Awesome job Trina! Good luck this weekend!! I have some really good news to report. I went to my buddy who is a sports doc today. After some x-rays, he found scar tissue in the front of my ankle joint that is causing: #1. Restricted range of motion in my ankle (I can't stretch my soleus because of this), #2 Trying to stretch my soleus is pinching the soft tissue right in front of the scar tissue which causes it to become inflamed. He seems to think ultrasound might break it up. I am getting an MRI on Wednesday to check another area in the ankle, but from the x-rays, it looked okay too. Next week, I am also going to my PT to get a Functional Body Screening of my lower body. This helps determine which muscles are strong and which ones are weak and how the strong compensate for the weak. Once this is determined, along with the MRI results, he is going to set up a stretching / strength training routine for me to strengthen all of my weak areas. Definitely no surgery or delay in my training. Finally, he definitley recommended I change running shoes. I need more cushion and a little more control. Woo hoo! It is amazing what they can do these days. Personally I would be concerned about the Functional Body Screening because the list of strong muscles would be much shorter than the list of weak muscles. (Suzy - do not flame me - I am just kidding.) Glad you are on the path to figuring out what is going on and have a plan for addressing it. -William |

If you aren't racing, are you starting a new training plan soon? do tell. OK, here goes. I have an indoor tri on Sunday. This is the same event that was my very first tri that I did last year. So, it will be an opportunity for me to compare and see how much I have (hopefully) improved. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() WOW, leave for a few hours and there is tons of news to report....cool!!! Trina, awesome work. No doubt you will be ready for the weekend. Glenn-Make us proud! Chris--really interested to hear more about that body scan. I have never heard it of it before. I have done the ultrasound. Are you getting dex with it? So all my whining was for naught...it turned out to be a sunny day afterall. Went to the beach I normally can swim in, but the lifeguards had it closed for high surf. There was a monk seal on shore which was pretty cool. I feel like I should at least hit the pool, but very unmotivated.....what if the weather sucks tomorrow? I should probably go, right? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Chris: Great news on the foot. Keep us posted on the plan and progress. Glad you got it looked at. So today... for my tt I did a 28:04, and I split out my 500's and they were: 6:59,7:02,7:01,7:01 (1K was 14:02). Yay!! That is major progress for me and I was just thrilled, not only to beat that old 500tt time, but to be so consistent and hang on. Mentally I went into it thinking of 4x500, start out comfy and try to build. Of course I was also breaking it up into 10x200 and 8x250 and 5x400... playing tons of mind games with myself. But at each 500 I tried to hang on a little tighter and put a little more into it. I never checked my splits while I was swimming, just lapped my watch at the 500's, so was so surprised to see how I did. Yay!! |

Those are some kick butt times, heck even the "crappy" 7:19 for 500 sounds good to me unless my brain is fried from too much chlorine I took on tonight during my long swim. My MS was 2000 tonight and I broke the times down as well into 500s and they were (8:53, 9:07, 8:22, 8:59) I was counting as much as possible, but felt like the last set should have been my strongest, but who knows. Congrats again on your success! |
