Hey hey, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I'm too far behind on pages after not having internet access the last 2 days.

So congrats to those who raced!

I had a sprint today.  My swim sucked, as usual.  500 yds @ 14:07 with  a wading start.  I felt ok, just slow.

T1 and T2 went well.  Bike went great.  Headwind on the way out was present but not a huge limiter, out speeds of 17-18.  Very smooths roads and a tailwind on the way back gave me a push and speeds were about 24.  Some of the downhills gave me speeds over 36.  Missed the park entrance off the road on my return because they way the guide was standing it looked like he was waving me past, not in.  so I had avbout 40 seconds of wasted time passing and turning around.

Run went very well.  Started too strong @6:30's.  Slowed to 7:15ish as I knew part of the run was trails and dirt roads.   It was also an out and back.  Back in I was strong and fast.  The last 0.25 I was flying.  I did a super fast all out sprint the last 1/4 mile... per the Garmin my fastest speed was 4:29.  My wife couldn't keep the video camera on me.  I don't know how I had that in the tank, but dang!!   If I could harness that pace for a mile, recover for a mile and sprint again for a mile, I'd be sub 18's.

Didn't place in my AG as the field was rockin!  Had I swam 4 minutes faster I would have placed.  Sometime I'll get the swim under control.  RR to follow, but prolly not until tomorrow.

Great job Roni!!!  Way to to hold back and have fun.  Your body will thank you.

Jeremy--nice job on the race and the smokin' run.  The swim will come together the way you want it.

Rob-you are so lucky to have found someone to bring you back to town.  I carry a cab # in my cell phone contacts in case it happens to me.  I am not sure I would feel totally comfortable taking a ride from a guy I don't know from some remote location.

Kim--you are having too much fun on that taper.  Just think you get to do a reverse taper once the HIM is behind you.

Here's to a good week!

Race report is up:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=169030
I finished 268/575 overall and 37/54 AG. Frown Only bright spot was 125/575 on the bike. Well there is always next race.

The picture of Tracy and I was after the race. My forerunner was with my stuff. Travy said you would comment about her two watches! I loved the course just not my results. I am learning a lot from my mistakes as I am making a lot of them.

Nice run Jeremy I envy having anything in the tank.

Doug

Awesome job to everyone racing this past weekend.  It seemed as if the group had impressive results and all of the training is paying off.  I hope to catch up on race reports once I have the kids occupied w/ something other than me.  LOL

Two more weekend until my last spring/summer tri then I start my OBX marathon plan.  Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got an email from the RD of the Kids Tri that I volunteered at Saturday.  She is stepping down. The incident with parent at the awards ceremony was much worse than I thought.  A fellow BT'er had to get in between the parent and her because he was "going postal".   As I mentioned, he wasn't the only parent that had issues.  Stellar examples for the children.  This behavior is simply pathetic.  And our tri club sponsors a few of these races.  If nobody steps up to fill her shoes then the race goes away.

roni_runnw - 2009-07-12 4:08 PM I finished the Missoula Marathon in 5:30ish. Had fun and took it easy, but doing one you're actually trained for is definitely a better time On my way back to kalispell now, then heading to Pasco tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Nice Job Roni!

Finally back at it after a packed full weekend.  I bettered my time on the super sprint from last month to this month by almost 5 minutes!  I am happy with that.  I did not hit my super secret goal of 10 minutes but that was a little unrealistic.  My race report is up finally.  I am trying Suzy's suggestion and went out for a 30 minute z1/z2 ride yesterday evening at about 7:45 or so (It was still 100 degrees out...). Hopefully I won't be as sore today and tomorrow as after last week's tri.  Thanks for all the inspires!  It will be a full day reading race reports it seems...

Great job to all the racers this weekend!

BTW - Holly sent me an inspire as well.  She is back to training, be sure to drop an inspire to her, as coming back from an injury can be very hard...

Hey Tracy:

Seeing as how you work in the building next to mine, are you interested in some lunch time running? There are showers in the first floor ladies and men's rooms of my building. Let me know.

Wow, I have been such a slacker swimming.  I am just not motivated to hit the pool with all the biking and running I have been doing.

Figure I wil give it another week and hit the pool before my next race.

Also, lol we are on page 199.

Good morning everyone.  First day back at work since the vacation and I've been doing BT all morning. Very bad.  You can tell where my motivation went.

Great job Roni and Suzy!  Once again - you both rock!

The race this weekend went well.  I didn't swim fast but at least I swam straight for once!  I am super excited by my bike performance, 12/52 and averaged 18.5mph!  The run still needs work but that is the story of my life.  It was great to meet Doug in person.   And as his photo proves I wore the watches on DIFFERENT wrists - just for you guys.

Here is my RR.  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=169155

It is so fun to start Monday morning reading all the race reports.  We are quite the group of accomplished athletes!  Here is my RR from Saturday, short and sweet.

I am headed to the pool for the first time in almost a week, but I am keeping a positive attitude!  Tony, you and I can keep each other motivated.

After being back in Madison for less than 24 hours, I am ready to go back to Minocqua.  If all goes well, I'm leaving Wednesday afternoon after a monstrous bike tomorrow and a couple of visits with my 86yo mom.

Enjoy the day!

I think b/c unless you are a swimmer and love it, it is the biggest chore of all the training.

It's certainly easiest for me to skip.

I am hoping that a week or so off from swimming recharges the batteries, I am just sick of staring at a black line for an hour...

If it was more OWS I don't think I would mind it nearly as much.

You all must be tired from the weekend. I really expected more razzing for bringing two right shoes to the race! It still is bumming me out though. Maybe it was my way of subconciously giving myself room to PR it next year.

Steve dear, that is not trail running, that is ROCK CLIMBING!!!!

Speaking of swimming, I realized this weekend that fast swimmers amaze me.  When it comes to running, I know what I am doing wrong and I know what fast runners do to be fast.  But with swimming, technically I am doing everything right and I watch those fast people and think, "HOW DO THEY DO THAT?"  Anyone else have that feeling?

Things at work have officially slowed down this week!  I feel so lost here!  Congrats to all the racers from this weekend.  I haven't got to all the race reports yet, but from reading the posts it sounds like you all have a lot to be proud of!  I had a good weekend.  I rode my bike to my niece's birthday party on Saturday.  I figured it was a good way to get in my training and still get to the party!  On Sunday, I did my workout in the morning and went golfing in the afternoon.  Golf was good - except for the 3rd hole.  A big black bear crossed the fairway!  I figured it was okay - I could outrun everybody I was golfing with!  Have a good training week!

Wow we have some fast runners in our group. Reading all these RR's and you guys knocking out 20-22 minute/5k. I am totally jealous of you guys. I'd need an electric prod in my butt to get my going that fast!
