Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Funny story about my husband. He's been going to the gym with me and monitoring nutrition since he was informed that he's diabetic. Last night he weighed himself pre workout, said he had gained 2 lbs from his primary care visit. Then he weighed post workout and had lost the same 2 lbs. Weighed again after soaking in the pool and hot tub and regained the same 2 lbs. I laughed at him and said that those scales are not accurate, he had eaten dinner about 30 minutes prior to workout and that he was being obsessive. |

I'm on Day 2, not bad so far. I'd been vegetarian for the better part of the last ~10 years so eating meat is strange to me. Slowly getting there. Been enjoying hard boiled eggs, dates, new veggies, old favorite fruits and made herb spinach chicken burgers last night. So far so good. I'm Paleo (although I dont eat cow), but not giving up my alcohol..."drunken Paleo"? My cousin was a vegetarian, then was Pescatarian and now on day 3 of Paleo. She is having a tough time accepting that eating fat is ok. Edited by AbbieR 2013-02-06 7:15 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So, I dunno if anyone actually reads my training blog (except for the occasional visit from AbbieR). I posted the following on Sunday, 3Feb13: Changin' things up a bit. Not getting registered for the Shamrock Half Marathon sucks, but I'm going to turn it into a positive thing. Starting today, I'm focusing myself on total destruction of the Clydesdale Division at the Breezy Point Triathlon. With that comes a goal weight of 225lbs and a BF% goal of 15% or less. I have no idea who reads my training blog at all, but if you're reading, I ask that you stop by often and hit me with inspires. Give me pointers, kudos, suggestions, or anything you think will help me stay focused and moving forward. This won't be easy at all. Unpredictable work hours and stress from some personal issues will try to hold me back. All I can do is push forward. Today, I take Step 1 all over again. Today is a different Jim.
The plan: SBR training, with a focus on S. Interspersed in said training, I intend to utilize the Kenpo X, Cardio X, Yoga X, and Stretch X routines from the P90X program. I will be filling in the measurements on my training log once a week; Sunday unless I have duty. Weight will be recorded on Friday. Here I go!!
Monday, I had a little stomach bug hit me. Between yesterday and today, I worked 36 hours, so I got nothing done yesterday. Today, in an effort to pick up some mileage toward my 1000 miles for the year goal (I'm doing it as part of a BT challenge!), I laid down 7.24 miles on the Shoe Leather Express. My speed and endurance are picking up. I even met another PR for the day... 1:04:05 for a 10K!!! Haven't done any P90X stuff yet. It will happen, soon enough. Yes it's a little cruel to vividly describe cake in a weight loss thread! Is anyone else eating paleo? I'm on Day 2, not bad so far. I'd been vegetarian for the better part of the last ~10 years so eating meat is strange to me. Slowly getting there. Been enjoying hard boiled eggs, dates, new veggies, old favorite fruits and made herb spinach chicken burgers last night. So far so good. Used to eat lots of oats, quinoa, beans, lentils, greek yogurt, cheese. None of which are allowed now Kind of an experiment, but I've noticed my body is reacting adversely to beans and dairy more than it used to. I already eat 100% gluten free (Celiac) so had that going already. But I used to eat a lot of potatoes, rice, and gluten free pastas/breads. Which I knew were not great health-wise but were easy and not on the "bad" scale of fast food. Abbie I am with you on the wine! Good for the heart on any diet, no? |

Guess calorie tracking is essential for me to see how much I really eat vs how much I really burn. Way to go Judi! Except I found your two pounds this week. I KNOW you don't want them back either. Nutrition was just not a priority this week. I do great all day, then the evenings hit and I stop paying attention. Funny thing is, this is not normal for me. Both the hubbie and I agree, we are Stopping this process in its tracks. We have goals we need to meet. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 207 this morning. Down one from last week. Not bad considering a super bowl party on Sunday. a sliced open finger which lead to me missing a spin class the next morning. Then an illness that kicked in Wed. afternoon running through last night. Still haven't quite shaken it but I feel good enough that I will probably run tonight. It derailed my runs on Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily I don't get "sick" often, but when I do it's pretty bad. Weather is turning already down here and I'm already getting some long rides in with minimal climate discomfort so thats a good thing. All in all I am pleased and suprised by this weeks weigh in. |

Isn't it though? I have gone through the same thing. Constantly floating between 205 and 210. I am beginning to wonder if I have reached some sort of "natural equilibrium" at which point further weight loss comes through greater sacrifice. Once the weather warms up and I am able to get full training in I suppose I will truly see. I've got an Olympic and a HIM this season so we'll see. Last year's weight loss was a result of training for nothing but sprints. I know I can't cut much more off of my caloric intake, I mean I want to be sub 200, but I don't want to be starving all the time. Also I have a two day total immersion swim clinic coming up at the end of this month. I'm pretty excited about it as I haven't ever been a strong swimmer. I've been watching the youtube videos and trying to implement some of the techniques but having video analysis an a coach should really help. Big season coming up this year in preparation for an even bigger season in 2014. |
