Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() thanks for all the early nutrition input. yesterday was a big day around here for june. she got her first hair cut. then we came home and went to our pool house (read neighbors). she took swim lessons last summer but hasn't been quite ready to jump in without them. well kids being kids, yesterday she just jumped in and started swimming around. the she walked over to this little waterfall, ~4 feet high and did a few belly flops off that. so cool. so funny. so amazing. below are a couple vids if you're bored. from my bb so quality isn't the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFQtu5Ve6ME http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0haCFvR3CA |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am back and the ride was fun! I have a question.....this is the email we got from the RD today....Governor Nelson has opened their beach. As a result of this action, the race officials have elected to carry out the swim portion of the triathlon. You will notice a yellow caution sign on the beach as a reminder to swim at your own risk. When I asked him what the test results showed today he said they elected not to test the water. I'm normally not skiddish, but I don't want some weird e coli thing before my HIM next weekend. Thoughts? |

We so don't need dude's from Standford or Berkley. You might not know this, but Madison is dead center in liberal hippy land. They're like ants in the summer, everywhere. PS I hope that doesn't offend Julia or others who might be of that persuasion! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2 mid distance rides on my tuned up bike. It's still making funky noises, but there are fewer of them. It does shift more smoothly. I have the new shoes attached. I'm getting nasty knee pain. and some leg pain, too. Also lost another toenail. Could the LBS have done something to be causing all of this? Worth another trip back out there? We have to ship the babies to CdA Thursday am. I know part of this is taper panic. BUT, the toenails ARE falling off. The knee (and quad/hammy) IS sore. The bike IS making some noises. HELP!! Could the new shoes (same brand, bigger size) be a problem? Help me, my friends!!!!! |

(Could not tell until got access to official results and could compare my times to those of friends and colleagues.) And, yes, the woman I ran with (wife of close friend) is a hottie. I made sure that when we were approaching the race photographer, I put my arm around her shoulders and she put her arm around my waist while we were running, for the photo. Will circulate when and if available. |

Yes, yes a million times yes....if the LBS made changes to your pedals and cleats that definitely can cause knee issues. Did they raise or lower your seat? same thing can happen. Not sure about the toe nails. Are your shoes too small? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I got back from my 1 wk Asia trip on Friday night and had my worst race day to date on Sat.. In a brief synopsis, it first involved getting lost due to all the construction in the World Trade Center area and regular road ways being blocked off going to Staten Island to getting my car window smashed by a huge piece of flying cement on the highway. It took 1.5 hrs to get to a place that normally takes 20 min. Then i think due to the combination of being so jet lagged/tired, airplane food, ocean waves among other things I puked twice during the swim and choked on my own vomit. Not fun but I finished. It was a rough tri even though it was so short and flat. I'll write more details in my race report, I'm still so tired I cant think straight.. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Someone asked the question about why OWS was slower and the answer came back "walls". Here is my data from yesterday. I have been swimming at about 1:50ish 100's in the 25yd pool. In the 50m pool, I was right about 2:00 with the same effort - the only difference is that there are two less wall pushes in the 50 and the time goes up 10sec. Take away the other two and logic would say that I would swim 2:10 / 100 in OWS and that is without any wasted time due to sighting or navigational issues... |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Kids..... Looks like a lot of us had interesting weekends! Stan-you're the man! Between jet lag and the course screw up, you deserve the big "ATTA BOY" of the day! Andy-when you figure out how to use that b-day present let me know. Mine's in the drawer ![]() Had a fairly good race today. Swim was not what I wanted it to be, but the bike rocked and I treated the run exactly the way I needed to....total shock that I won my AG today. Highlight was meeting Dino! I never saw him after he got in the water though.....I'm guessing he had a good day. He looked pumped! PS Side note, picked up the RU this afternoon. And no I haven't ridden it yet. It was pouring. ![]() |
