SSMinnow - 2010-02-27 8:04 AM GOOD MORNING!!!!!  For those that do not check blogs, here is a picture of my new bike which is still a work in progress. Last night we spent time positioning the aerobars/base bar/pads so Paco could trim them up to better fit me. He found a company that makes a smaller base bar which was a huge find.  Now that we have done that he can string the cable and wrap the bars in white of course!  We decided on LOOK Pedals (buying two sets--the white ones and the Keo Blades and swapping the innards for the new bike) and the model of PT which were the last big decisions to make.  SRAM shifters seem pretty cool.  Wheels are Axcl which is the company who make wheels for Easton.  Apparently it is tough to find many in stock 650s.  I like how they look.  They are a little deeper than my current wheels for the Seven.  Still toying with the idea of race wheels, but may hold off for a while I see how I like these first....

Beautiful.  You are going to ROCK the roads with this beauty.

soccermom15 - 2010-02-26 3:35 PM Not planning to buy a wetsuit just yet, I want to try out a couple of others first and also try an OWS in one before I decide.  The store rents suits and also sells used ones, so I'll probably go there if I do decide to buy one.  The cost is also a bit of a deterrant at the moment although the rep last night made a good point.  He asked how many pairs of running shoes people go through in a year and compare that total to the price of a wetsuit that you'll be able to use for years to come.  And even if you decided to give up tri's, you could still sell the suit and get some of the money back.  Put that way, it doesn't seem so bad.  It's just the initial large cash outlay that gets to some people.

I think we're finally going to have a nice weekend here.  It'll be cloudy but at least the temps are working their way back up towards where they're supposed to be at this time of year.  Hopefully I can get out for both a ride and a run.

Have a great weekend!

Janet[/QUOTE Another point for consideration:  you can rent suits for your race.  Weigh the cost of a suit vs the cost of multiple rentals.  If you aren't planning on doing lots of OWSing that allow suits then rent one.  I think Rob is still renting and he is in his     3rd year of racing I think.

Nope not still renting. Got a suit last year before my HIM but I did rent up until then and its not a bad way to go. It let's you have a try ( how puny) at different suits and you could probably try out both full and sleeveless.

Suzy  all I have to say is saaaaweeeeeet..

On an Olympic note I was actually happy to see Canada pressed so hard by the Slovaks at the end. Hopefully it will give them a shakeup and they won't come out flat against our great buddies from the south. I want to see the gorillas who laid out the Russians on the ice on Sunday.

Too bad about Apolo's DQ even though it did allow us up here to get another "two" medals. After the race they ran a clip of Hamelin's girlfriend as she followed the race in the stands. It was almost as good watching her reactions as it was watching him win.

another 4 medal day for Canada.

Gooooooooooooooooo CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice Suzy,

lol, need more details.

You said SRAM shifters, are they the RTC ones?

Also those cranks look like Shimano 7900, what size are they, on that small bike they look huge.

If it is Shimano, what is the FD and RD

Are you planning on keeping those brake levers, imo with the nice bits you have on there now I would switch to something a bit lower profile like the visions.

Look keo blades, very nice.

Can't wait to see it all put together.

So maybe we need to get the spreadsheet back together to see what races everyone is doing.  I know a couple are doing Nations Tri (still debating if I am doing it)  Figure we could all get together when you show up here in DC.

I think I'll be doing the Rev3 Olympic in Knoxville which is 2 weeks after Lonestar, lol quite a month.  Lonestar HIM, 2 weeks later Rev3, 2 weeks later Columbia.

I have been sitting on the sidelines the last couple days due the the CRUD.  Have had a really annoying cough mostly at night which has kept me from getting any sleep.  Hopefully it is running its cours and I will be back at it in a day or so.

Are you speaking Latin to me?

The SRAM shifters are RTC. Given reach issues Paco felt it would be best to have let return to position.

I am using 100% Shimano Dura Ace.  Altough the cranks are 6500so that might be Ultegra.  This was one of several  sourcing issues Paco had due to size.

I cannot answer the other stuff because i don't understand it....clarify in terms a non girly girl can understand!

PS The bike isn't in my possession anymore...went back for the rest of the work...boo-hoo.

Oh brother....The maid lives in the house, but she has an agreement with the male owner that she doesn't clean the basement or the man bathroom downstairs....this is the area where we have all of our workout equipment (Universal/TM/Elliptical/CT and the list goes on).  It looks like a wreck because Paco and I moved a lot of stuff so he had better light for the fitting.

Just heard from my FIL who is still in Kauai...they are under a mandatory evacuation due to the tsunami warning and heading inland which is not so easy for them given my MIL's Parkinsons and failing health.  It is times like this I wish we were still there to help them.

To the degree biathlon is going to be a part of the winter Olympics, this is the way it should be done:

I would totally watch these events in the Olympics.

My brother lives on a small research island off of Oahu.  They were getting off the island and to higher ground on Oahu...haven't heard an update yet so hope he is OK...

EDIT - Just saw on the news that the tsunami warning was cancelled.  WHEW!

Hey all!  I am soooo far behind in here that I don't think I have any hope of catching up from where I left off.  However, I haven't forgot about you all and want to thank those of you who have visited me lately.  I have really been in a funk due to a million and one things going on but I'd like to think that I am moving on! I have one week of school left so I'm totally stoked as that just means I will have more time to play.  I whole heartedly plan on staying caught up but I may fall a bit behind until my class is over (at which time I am taking a break until after our move to WA in May!!)

BTW, sweet looking bike, Suzy!

Aerobars, base bar and pads still need to be trimmed.  As Doug pointed out, the stem needs to be trimmed and capped (red of course) as well.  It's a Terry butterfly....same as what is on my Seven only white....

Not sure how many of you know of the company called, Oomph!, but i just ordered two pair of tri shorts from them with a built in bottle holder...the unique thing is I contacted them to see if they made shorter shorts for short people....  They are custom making me two pair and sent me samples of the length to try beforehand.  Pretty cool.
