The Trooper - 2011-07-25 6:08 PMI haven't chimed in yet, but I have returned from Zombie land. I got Bib #523 my name is Gary. Training went well for me. I was able to handle loads of volume with out any big injuries. Had my share of pains and a couple saddle sores named thing one and thing two. My hat goes off to those of you who took on this challenge with small children, those of you who managed to continue on after injuries, I'm sure most of us overcame many challenges to get this far. I will be rolling in Friday straight to the expo. Not sure which meeting I will make but would like to meet as many of you as possible. Be safe out there
. What's up Gary. Looking forward to meeting you.

#428 here.  Been through a bunch of small injuries to get here but I'm going in Saturday at 100%.  Crossing the line  is my goal, but if I stay within myself I think I can be in the 12's.

Jim and I will be there Thursday afternoon.  Probably be able to make dinner, maybe the swim.  Lookin forward to it.  I'm going to have my wife and baby there as well as my parents coming in on Friday so I"ll make sure to find out where home base will be for the BTer supporters.  Lovin' the excitement we're all feeling.

Wow... looking like there will be a big BT support group.  I've got my wife, 3 boys, and at least one friend showing up.

Hi all, question for those that have done this before. Is there bike tech support available in transition and bike pumps? This is my first time packing and flying with my bike so I'm more nervous than usual about those details (as if having a working bike is a "detail"!)

I don't remember seeing any bike tech or pumps in T1, but I didn't need them so I wasn't looking too closely.

Norcal Bikesport will be providing bike support. They will have staff there with pumps. If you need anything else here is their website. I am sure there will be many folks with pumps there as well. I packed mine.

Good luck to everyone!  I plan to do this race next year, so I have enjoyed (lurking) reading a lot of the insights here in this thread.  I'm looking forward to the race reports!

My bike is flying for the first time since I got it. Two "alleged" employees wheeled the case out of my sight 3 hours ago.Enrique (ecpasos) has assurred me he'll have a pump and tools I can use and is loaning me 2 CO2 cartridges for the race.

Thanks all, much appreciated. I hope everyone has a good race! I'm excited to see the course and hoping that the thought of my vacation and a few glasses of wine will carry me through to the finish!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  My wife and I will be in the relay (swim for me, bike for her)...won't be on site until midday Friday, unfortunately, so we can't make it for sushi Thursday.  Hope to be able to meet some of you...both my wife and I have raced VM before (both the full and 70.3 for me, Barb's for her), so definitely can answer questions if they come up.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, and hi to all the folks we haven't heard from before.

Quick reminder, this afternoon we've got the following. All are welcome.

1:30 at Johnsons beach to drive the courses

3:30 at Johnsons beach on course OWS

5:00 at Sushi Tozai in Sebastapol

I may or may not make the 1:30 meetup... After getting up at 1:45 California time this morning to get my flight, I need a nap. If I don't see you all there, I'll catch up with you later.

I am currently at Fishermans Wharf in San Fran carb loading with some seafood pasta. . I'm thinking tomorrow at 1pm we can meet up for doodles, driving the course, and other related fun. Let's meet at Windsor High School and leave from there. I'm hard to miss... Hot pink shoes and inappropriate jokes.

I'll be there around 11 or so, with plans to attend the first meeting at noon, then get checked in, etc. and go with Robyn et al on the course drive armed with chalk.

I will be rolling in around 1:00 or so. I will be wearing a black t shirt with "The Trooper" on the back. I am the worst at facial recognition But will do my best to spot some of you from your avitar pic. If you see shirt come say hi. Gary

Forecast I'm seeing is for a high of 86. We're getting a late start this morning. Still in Sacramento. Should be there for the 1:00 briefing and than off to drive the courses. Hope to stop at a few wineries along the way.
Good luck everyone!!
