I buy a pair and wear them for about 400 miles. 350 miles is when they start visibly wearing in the top/toe area, and hurting my knees, but I try to get to 400 miles. I buy an off the shelf orthotic as well, and use them for about a year each, or until I can visibly see they have flattened out. Never had issues with "breaking in" shoes. Unrelated, it's a snow day here in Atlanta. I literally could not drive out of my neighborhood - I tried! The massive hills had multiple vehicles stuck this morning, and unless you had a 4x4 vehicle, you weren't getting out. First time working from home. It's nice! Good thing you ran this am since we will be cold tomorrow morning. I am, of course, running tomorrow morning!! |

I understand the Floridians aren't accustomed to the cold weather but 40 degrees sounds wonderful to me! We've been in an extended cold streak. Current temp is 22 (feels like temp of 10), lows in the low teens tonight, wind chills in the single digits. We had an oddball 61 degree day last Friday and it was WONDERFUL but then we were right back into the 20s. |

I lived my whole life in Kansas, land of a legitimate all four seasons (plus wind, that's the year-round nuisance) and I used to run in the snow, cold, everything but ice. But somewhere along the way, I decided I didn't like doing that! I do a lot of treadmill runs these days if it's not 40 degrees or warmer, but I have to say I am surprised at my first winter in the "south." I really thought Atlanta was warmer than this in the winter months. Maybe this is an anomaly year, but it's been almost like a Kansas winter this year. Lots of below freezing temps and two measurable snow falls so far. Ick. |

He was offered the option to go for 100 laps, but for some reason he opted out. Originally posted by jenstewey Originally posted by rrrunner So I found an.... interesting challenge for a race this year. It is a four day event, a marathon each day, at Four Corners. One marathon each day in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. It's run by the same group that does the Antelope Canyon Ultra that Lisa did last year. It's in December. So, if DS2 and I are able to swing the Dopey Challenge in 2019 then I'll probably do the HM's instead. If DS2 and I can't/don't get in to Dopey, then I think I'm doing a quad marathon in December. Jensie just did seven and he's not even a runner!!!! They (an organization within Navajo Nation) also have a couple neat looking, shorter distance, races up near the Grand Canyon that I might do. This caught my eye because I love racing in different places. I looked it up and it says the Utah course is a 1 mile loop that you do 26 times? Ouch! I was only thinking about the half marathon option, but still.... Granted, I think I found the 2016 race information, so it's possible that's changed. I think that is still the case and is a HUGE down-side for me as well. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED We were having the same issue with Shelby (new kitty in Idaho) when I was home. She has a ton of fur and it's really soft and silky, like a kid's hair, really carries the static. It got to the point where she was shrinking back from me if I approached her across the carpet, because she knew what was coming. She loves petting and tummy rubs but learned pretty quickly to "request" them on the tile floor. As for winter, it got down to 68 last Saturday. I thought about going up for a tech shirt. But didn't bother. I survived. |

After 4 years at Michigan State and walking 30 minutes in blizzard conditions to class and school was cancelled once because the received 24" in a day. It makes me feel so old -- "I remember when..." I was in high school in Iowa and had swimming last period and walked home over a mile in the cold and icicles formed in my hair. (I had long hair in high school, now every year it gets shorter. Soon, I'll be sporting a Sinead O'Connor look) Funny, i just had a conversation last night about how old we thought our parents and aunts/uncles were when we heard them talk about things that happened 20+ years ago and how we are doing the same thing now! I can't say I've had the icicle form on my hair thing, but I did go to college in Tallahassee, FL, and it's weather is more similar to south Georgia or south Alabama than it is to the Florida weather most people think of; so I did have frozen hair a few times. I often thought I could avoid the hair salon if i just broke off my hair during those times I think you should go Sinead O'Connor for IM Choo!! |

It's your imagination. They did improve it though. Now there is an extra step. Before you could click the inspires number and it would take you right to your inspires. Now you click the number and it opens a drop down and then you click inspires. There's nothing like improved efficiency for the end user! |

Re: shoe rotation. Never done it. It's nice! Haha I get it! Ick. I think think that 1-2 snowfalls, an ice storm and back and forth temperatures is kind of normal for Atlanta. Hmm everyone is saying it's a super weird winter, at least for snow and ice (I think yo yo temps are pretty common everywhere). We've had more snowfall than Denver this season. And schools are closed for the THIRD day in a row this week from the... cold I guess? Everything has long since melted, so parents are so confused why schools are still closed. |

Y'all remember Erin (and Jason)? They moved from Phoenix to north Georgia last summer. (They are near the IMChoo bike loop.) They are having some weather adjusting to do. |

People just like to complain. And yes, they close schools here a lot. Do you have countywide schools there? That's the issue here. Desegration led to countywide schools and lots of busing. Geographically larger districts and more busing means that there are more closures due to varying conditions in outlying neighborhoods. Some days in the teens, some days in the 60s. We don't have much humidity and that does make a difference. 40°F with 40% feels way colder than 40°F with 10% humidity. My poor dogs are getting tired of getting zapped by static electricity when I pet them! We've been really back and forth here in Raleigh as well. We had a week below freezing (very unusual for us) and then a few really nice days in the upper 50s. Now it's snowing but it's supposed to be 60 on Sunday.
Really wish y'all would adopt decimalisation and switch to Celsius. My head hurts . What's next, the metric system????? That is a slippery slope my friend! |

Between Dec and Jan we've already had 8 inches! Not average if you ask me! And have had 3 snow days just this week. Not sure about the schools. I just know that ALL of metro Atlanta schools are closed for the 3rd day in a row, I guess due to TWO un-passable roads. Two. |
