No training to report, just getting fat and lazy. . I did find a seahorse, first one I ever found on my own other than the monster ones in Galapagos, on a shore. Dive in 20' water right of our hotel. Then had one of the best steaks ever at a local argintinean restaurant. Good day.

yet another advantage of working from home.  However it can also be looked at as a disadvantage.  Surrounded by food all day long

My problem when this happens is the damned vending machine.  Got my $1.25 yesterday, and avoided looking at the fat content of what I was inhaling.

Ride 3 done for the TrainerRoad challenge.  Done after strength training.  I had the garage doors open, which I am sure pleased my next door neighbors as I was watching TV rather loudly

Disc cover question - do you tape over the hole for the valve.  The cover came with a couple of stickers, and I've always used them, but in looking at real discs, most don't have any cover.  I assumed there was a negative to not using the sticker, but now I'm thinking I don't need it.  Opinions?

Sounds like you are having a tremendous time Chris - maybe you could log the diving as kick drills with fins - at least that way you would have SOMETHING to put in your logs???

I do when it's dry. Don't bother when it's wet as it's fallen off every time. We look at that huge gaping hole, but I think even Zipp says covering it isn't really necessary.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Finding a seahorse is pretty dang cool.

Flying to Indianapolis for meetings, but just heard that I can use the fitness facility (including a new track!) at our collaborator's campus when I arrive and don't have a meeting for like 3 hours.  I'm gonna get to run today after all!

Happy Matt...

After a taper week followed by an unstructured recovery week, I suppose I am back at it and officially starting my 10 week IM build to Lake Placid. I have been on a kind of hybrid plan until now trying to get some speed back for Knoxville, but now I really need to start getting some time on my feet and in the saddle. 4600scy at masters this morning and some fartlek-ish hill repeats sometime this afternoon. On Monday I am going to go up to Spartanburg, SC and ride Mt. Mitchell - 100+ miles and 11,000 feet of climbing, 5000' of which comes in the last 21 miles. So I think I am going to spend a little time on the roadie this week.

That ride sounds fun.  And yes, one that is best on a roadie.

4 x 1000 @ I-pace (~4:05/km for me) with 400m recovery.  I've done lots of T pace and some R pace, that's the first time for I pace.  It hurt - especially the first one!

I eat way more when I work from home.  This would not be a good situation for me.

Agreed on the first one - it's the same on the bike.  I can never get the legs going for the first interval, even with a warmup that has harder efforts in it.

Just wondering - can you tell us what the differences are in pace/km between your T,R,I paces - and what will you do your recovery at?

It's based on a Vdot of 47. http://www.attackpoint.org/trainingpaces.jsp?eqdist=5000&vdot=47

R pace is ~3:45/km, I pace is 4:07, T pace is 4:28.

Recovery today was 400 meters ez

Got in a good swim yesterday.  After slacking on swimming through the middle of April, I've been making a modest effort to get back in the pool for a few weeks and it's starting to pay off.

Missed my run this morning because I was installing my old Xlab rear tail on my GF's tri bike.  Gawd that thing was a pain, and I remember why now I didn't put it back on my bike.  Will try to run at lunch.

For the disc cover valve hole question...I cover mine with random stickers.  Some from races, sometimes I cut bumper stickers in half, etc.  Usually holds on pretty well even in the rain.

'I' Pace really does hurt.  I have been doing 800-1200 meter repeats recently although with about equal distance recoveries.

Neil:  I Pace would be 5K pace and T Pace would be 15K pace for me (just for reference)

I looked at the site Arend provided. Very cool site.

'I' pace would be a bit faster than my 5k pace (I think).

I did 4x1200m at 'I' pace with 400m recovery and it was actually OK, other than the people walking in the fast lane of the track.

I am terrible at pacing. I have 2 speeds : too fast and too slow.
