My sister is out there supporting docshock.  I just talked to her and she said doughboy had 3 flats and some issues with a cleat on his bike shoe and has dropped out.  Tough day for him and dodgersmom.  I feel horrible for them.

Docshock is a few miles into the run and apparently is smiling and looking good

Bummer to hear about Doughboy...

Go Craig!!!

oliveview - 2008-04-13 6:19 PM Steve (doughboy) dropped out just before SN (about mile 54) with mechanical problems. He had three flats and then lost a cleat somehow. He said the winds were brutal. Both Steve and Marcy are doing well and are planning on signing up for next year!!

Sorry to hear about Steve.  Glad he and Marcy are both going to try again next year, though.

Tough break for those two--but so glad to see that they don't let it get them down--way to push on Steve and Marcy!!!

He lost his chip in the water.  He's on the bike course, but no one knows where.

Evidently lost it on the swim.  No matter, they have people with pen and paper as well as video so he'll get his offical splits eventually.  I'm sure he has them on his watch.

Buddy of mine says that people cheer the loudest for the first guys to cross the finsihline and the last guys.....but the ones in between those extremes just get a weak attaboy/girl.

How come they aren't sayig ".....YOU are an ironman?"  Guess they don't do that for the pros?  lol

It's a hot and windy day today! I've seen the start, beautiful! I've volunteered at bike directing sector one and there've been many bike issues and just plain exhaustion/dehydration/cramping. It was hard-core.

Harry was on bike lap three when I headed home for a well-needed rest until I return for the night oil finishline! THANKS to you all for being out there supporting our BT folks, virtually. I had a kick volunteering and look forward to cheering the finishers on in the end!

Wouldn't you think that after 8+ hours and winning an IM, a few of the chicks in the crowd would give 'em a little flash?

I digress...

Go back, he walked most of it.  He crashed nutrition wise and had to shut it down til he could keep food down.
