Current Goals:2 sprints by end of 09 Been in the gym since Dec 08 to lose some lbs - dropped about 30 (30 to go 6'4" 237 want to see 205) and wanted to take it up a notch. Needed a goal and somehow thought triathlon made sense - not sure how I connected the dots, but found this site couple weeks ago and cant get enough. I got in the pool at the Y 2 weeks ago and realized I am not quite the swimmer I was when I was a kid, but look forward to the swim days none the less. Have an old ragged mountain bike that I am trying to get fixed so that I can move to the road from the spin bikes and stationarys at the gym. Ok so after ~3 years off I am back. Had some back and laziness issues and just strayed away after the 2009 season. A friend of mine has been working on losing some Lbs and started running. I told him about my Garmin watch and asked if he wanted to use it. That little discussion, mixed with getting the watch out and looking through the training data, led to a 15 mile bike ride on the SCT and a little 1 mile run after to see how out of shape I am. Surprisingly, I felt really good the next day and now 2 days later I am all excited again and am going to sign up for lake lanier. Gives me 90 days to get in shape, get the gear updated and be ready to go. Who knows if I feel good after the first 2 weeks back in training I may do the PTC sprint, another race that I completed in 2009 and really loved. I completed 3 sprint races in 2009 and did better each time out. I really enjoyed it and this forum provided a wealth of information and support. |

New user 2 Augusta | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians Name: Jonathan Robertson Age: 29 Hi! I volunteered as an aid station captain for the HIM, and I would like to tri the tri thing. I know nothing about it, other than what I have seen on the course. I completed my first HM in Feb (1:46) and I'm currently fighting some ITB. I thought swimming for a couple of months would let me keep me fitness up while healing the ITB problem I have fought with since February. I have also borrowed a pretty nice bike from a friend. |

New user 1 | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians Name: Dave I competed in the Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race (BRMAR) in April 2012. I raced in the Rope Mill Dirty Duathlon in October 2012. I plan to compete in the Fort Yargo Off Road Duathlon in March 2013, compete again in the BRMAR on 4/13/2013, and race the Xterra Fort Yargo Triathlon on 4/27/2013. Growing up in a rural area, my brothers and I spent many summers biking the back roads and running in the woods. Off road duathlons and triathlons remind me of those days of freedom and adventure. I was a collegiate athlete, and I miss competing. I recently subdued my chronic plantar fasciitis, so I'm able to run again. |

Extreme Veteran 452 GA | Subject: RE: Introduce yourself: Georgians Welcome Bryan! I'm actually from Ctown, but live in Alpharetta now. Lucky for you, there are 3 sprint tris in Carrollton throughout the year. 2 are at John Tanner State Park and one is at the rec center at Lake Carroll. Don't know much about places to train around there, but there is a good bike loop that is used for the West GA 100 bike ride in June. |
