Here's for our two Ironmen from yesterday and our two that will cross that line in less than two weeks:

An Ironman is not made in 140.6 miles; an Ironman is forged through countless early morning wake ups, gallons of sweat, hundreds of miles of focus, and many months of self-discipline. Like steel, an Ironman enters the fire, is softened, and beat down, and shaped, and molded, and in the end is solid and strong. I am an Ironman!

I know you have received MANY congratulations already, but here's one more.  I am so proud of both of you.  All of your hard work and dedication have paid off.  When the going got tough you both kept going, and that's what it's all about.  Thanks for the privelage to sit back, watch, and share in your journey.

If anyone's curious, there was quite a fiasco w/finisher's jackets at CDA. I didn't buy one last year, but found one for 50% off this year (for last year's race -- perfect!). The day after this year, they did not offer jackets but rather an opportunity to order them. They had samples there and said the jackets would be like the K-Swiss sample, only with CDA Finisher embroidered on the front, distances, etc. embroidered on the back. I chose not to order one -- same as the one I got this year for last year.

Well, a few weeks later the folks who ordered jackets got them, and all they had was a cheap CDA silk screen, no finisher, no distance, no year, no embroidering. Folks were not happy. Several emailed WTC about the bait-and-switch, and long story short is the WTC did end up sending them new jackets (no charge, keep the old one) with embroidered lettering, etc. I still like the one I got from last year much better, so I'm happy with my choice not to order one.

funny, i mentioned this last week and he was already well aware of the situation.  the line at texas was pretty long an hour before it opened at 8 .  by the time i got into the tent, maybe 8:15, lots of stuff was already gone.  the sh+tty part is WTC only makes a certain number of each thing.  once they are gone they are gone.  well ebay i guess.  seems they really miss out on some $$$ there.  same goes for the goods the prior to the race.  by thursday morning most good stuff was long gone. 

so, you took up a part time modelling job now that k-man and shea are back in school?

So I have a PSA to make. Iwas pretty dumbe on this one and I know better! I wear Shimano cycling shoes. Lately my right shoe has been slipping out when I bear down strong. I looked to see if the cleat was loose and it seemed fine. This has happened in training and in one race.

IOn yesterday's ride it happened at least 4 times. Afterward I looked at the left and right cleats side by sude and what do you know: my front ridge of my right cleat is almost complete worn away. Left is still fairly good. So my advuce us to check your cleats regularly!

I have an extra set of cleats (found them this AM after looking for them a lot yesterday. They were stuck in the middle of a pile of papers) and will install them tonight.

Yet another Doug shoe issue. Maybe I should try to go barefoot. hmmm.......

My advice is if you know someone in line or that already made it in the door have them buy whatever you want, including that jacket.  If it doesn't fit you can show them the bag and the jacket and they will readmit you.  I did that this year.  I got there an hour after it opened and the line was through the parking lot.  I was about to say screw it, when my friend called and suggested the idea since she was already inside. 

I love that jacket!  I guess it's like my tatoo.
