Funny thing is that does look like a set of bibs.

Though the boots might not work with speedplays...

I think Suzy is right - it kind of looks like John.  And if he wears a tri kit like this at Lonestar, with the crotch sequins, PLEASE GET A PICTURE FOR THE REST OF US.

If anyone could get away with that outfit it would be John.  It would go perfectly with his twang.

Well, I have been terribly unproductive this morning at work, (gotta get that NCAA bracket completed)  so I think I'll go drown myself for a little while.  See everyone after lunch when I look and feel like a drown rat. Kiss

RoniS - 2010-03-15 8:48 PM
jvanis - 2010-03-15 5:17 PM Back from the post-op follow up.  The surgeon said she I did the right thing by doing surgery on my wrist as she got in there it looked as many of the troubled cases do down the road, so i am happy I went through with it.

Put me in a removable splint deal so I can shower etc and removed the stitches.  She gave me the clear to bike (pretty much only on the trainer where I can take some of the pressure off that arm, and run.  Swimming is out for another 3 weeks.  I go back in a month to see how it progresses.  Hopefully mid April I get cleared to start doing some more activity and will make the march 1st tri.

Finally I did an easy run tonight as we have been blessed with some great weather.  Did 3.5 miles at 8:50 pace.  The catch... I did it barefoot in my Vibrams.  My calfs are a tad sore, but that is come to expect.  I have one spot they rubbed on my right foot that is ever so slightly sore, but I was amazed how good it felt, and I did not even feel close to having any knee pain.  Looking forward to some more runs with these along with the ChiRunning book to see if I can ditch my IT band issues.

Please ease into using the vibrams very slowly. I am pretty sure doing too much too soon because it felt so great to run in the VFFs is where my stress fracture began. Be particularly cautious on running downhills. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the VFFs and will VERY gradually work up to running in them again once I'm healed, but it does take your muscles, tendons, and bones some time to get strong enough to run without shoes.

I second Roni.  I love mine too but too much too soon can back fire later.  Local coach here suggests doing runs on soccer fields for 5-10 at a time for a couple WEEKS an slowly work up.  BF can be a good thing but only if you take it slow.  Here is a website to check out.  PLEASE be careful!  http://barefootrunninguniversity.com/learnbarefoot.html

Thanks for the suggestion guys! I have a bit of a longer run today (40, compared to 30 min last week), so hopefully it will be way better than Sunday's run.

Suzy - without fail, it ALWAYS happen on my right side. That's why when I read online about it, it says something that your liver and diaphragm is compressed together, causing pain.  I do not eat before I run (except that one time that I had a cookie). I did drink a little bit of water (like a couple sips) before Sunday's run. I guess my stomach is not used to jiggling up and down!  I always make sure that I exhale when I strike my left foot, it doesn't seem to be effective too much.

Thanks again for the tips.

Does John really have a twang???  A Connecticut boy?  Wow.  He doesn't write with a twang

Love that song and love Erasure, Steve you are right, though, much better with eyes closed!

Tracy, thanks for reminding me to go fill out my brackets!  Kansas has got a hard road in front of them...what's with Duke getting such an easy draw.  ugh.

Go Badgers!

You guys, I am on my taper and have lots of energy today...nothing on the schedule except for work and housecleaning later.  Took the dog for a two hour hike this morning and it was wonderful!  Steep climbs in my local canyon, made me think of Roni on her ultra and Steve and Ryan on their trail runs, having to actually run and navigate, crazy!!!

Hey Twin....a 2 hour hike is NOT a rest day. I wish I had an MP3 file of John....he sounds young and twangy.  You could always call his cell phone, listen to his greeting to see for yourself....he never answers the phone...at least when I am calling!

Had another 1 hour plus drill myself to death in the pool in the name of HIM/IM survival.  I do not see how people can do this day after day as part of a swim team.  Give me running anyday.  Not to mention, I have big goggle eyes, wrinkled fingers and pool nose.  Very attractive.

I hear you girl.  I just got back from a lunch swim and I have goggle eyes, damp hair and I still smell of chlorine (and yes I showered!)   Plus I have a meeting in a half an hour - hope no one sits too close to me   This time of year I always say my new perfume is eau de chlorine.

Self-inflating life vests
with two small gas cylinders (cartridges) and two small spare cylinders are allowed in checked baggage.

4 gas cylinders allowed.  i wonder if the terrorist's got a hold of this one yet.
