iOS 5 and iCloud launch (Page 2)

I guess I'm in the minority and had no issues updating my iPhone and iPad.  I updated my phone around 5:30 this evening and that took a little while (no more than 30 minutes) and my iPad around 9:30 and it took less than 15 minutes. 

The only issue I'm having is with my calendars.  They are not syncing as smoothly as I would like them too.  Which is most frustrating as this is the feature I need to work the smoothest.

ETA: Never mind, it was operator error.

Updated my iPad last night no problem, took about an hour to download the software.

I was wide awake at 4am so I thought I'd start updating my phone so it could be done when I was ready to leave for work. I started downloading the software and it said it was going to take 12 hours. It was down to 9 hours when I left for work. Guess I'll be updating my phone tonight.

I have a 3GS, I'll be upgrading to the 4S soon.

So I see what I had to do... managed to fix it early this morning.

If anyone bricks their phone, hold the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds, then let go of the lock (while still holding home), and it'll put you into restore mode. Worked like a charm.

Easy peasy for me. Except for the fact that the comp I normally sync to crashed and burned so I had to find a back door to get everything off my phone so I could update and put it back on. Downloaded SharePod and it worked great.

Update is pretty sweet, I like the new notifications.

No, I think it's pretty good now. I updated the next morning, and had absolutely no problem. I imagine the server has been freed up a fair bit since Wednesday afternoon.

I updated my dad's iPhone 4 for him yesterday, took about 1.5 hours to download, epdate went fine, everything works. I also didn't have any trouble updating mine. Would have got my wife's done too but I was out in the garage too late.

In my experience Apple does a pretty good job of working out bugs before they bring something to market, and this update has been in the works for a while, I don't see any reason not to download and run it.

Why? It's part of my business to learn these things. The .0 release has been just fine, it's the first day thing that was a problem .

It's part of my business to test certain operating systems. Dot zero releases are notorious for being buggy. Almost no major network service provider will deploy a .0 release on its network.

Rack of servers in a data center (in this case, belonging to Apple).  It's just the current silly marketing fad terminology.

Just use Messages like you would for texting someone.  When you choose the person to send to, it'll say iMessage in grey in the input area, if they also have iOS 5.  And the message bubbles will be blue instead of green.

If they're green, it means it is a standard text message.
