Subject: RE: Where are your strengths and weaknesses?some quite interesting reading here I'm surprised to see so many strong swimmers - among the 'Pirates' that sign up to do Ironman its nearly always the swim tat people are most are afraid of and consider themselves weakest at. I consider myself STRONG SWIM - i have always swam since i was 3 but never formally trained and never competitively - i had bronchitis type problems for the first 13-14 yrs of my life and it was swimming every day during the school summer holidays that sorted me out, i have also been on a TI weekend that helped a lot - im not a fast swimmer but i consider it my strongest WEAK BIKE -i get very little time to train on the bike - finding 40mins for a swim or 60-90 for a run is easy, even a long run every other week is not a problem, but when it comes to finding 3-5hrs to get out for a bike ride i find it hard to do - I am also quite a large guy at 210lbs which doesn't hep on the hills - i feel i could be reasonable on the bike if i trained on it a bit more as during IMDE i went thru the 100mile mark at just over 5hrs I am a competent runner, although not that fast (45min 10k) and have been known to run up to 30mile training runs - but i don't think i'll improve much more - although i am aiming for a sub 3:30 marathon in the spring (Paris or London) |
