I lucked out and got a catcher position from 3:30 - 8. I think I'm more excited about catching than when I did my first IM. I can't wait to see everyone make there own personal history when they cross the finish line.

I'm arriving this Saturday for my annual Taste of Madison pig out including fried cheese curds. God I love Wisconsin!

After being in Madison two days and getting Ironman fever, I added another shift!

I'll be at the Cross Plaines Bike aid station all day Sunday in a great costume that will be sure to bring lots of laughs and "ahoy mateys" from the athletes.

Here's where I'll be...

Friday 9-1:00 Registration area at the Monona Terrace

(I'll be on the lookout for Lazymarathoner from NY!)

Sunday 3:45 - 8pm Run Course Marshal at the corner of State and Henry

Monday - I'll be taking the kids to school and staying as far as I can away from any sort of registration for 2009 - you guys and gals are crazy (in a good way!).

Also, that boat ride offer still stands for anyone who isn't volunteering for the swim portion.

I am volunteering as a bike marshall at the Helix 7:45 to 9:30. I 'm not sure what that entails. However last year I spectated at the top of the Helix and saw a lot of near misses (and a few not misses). It was pretty chaotic. See everybody out there!

From one of my leads:

"

Weather is looking pretty good for Sunday, although possible isolated thunderstorms.
Have an update for those signing up for Ironman Wisconsin 2009 on Monday.  Besides checking in at the beginning of your shift with one of the captains, <1TT edited out>, you will also need to check out with us at the end of your shift.  One of the main reasons for allowing volunteers to have a separate line to register is to encourage more people to volunteer at Ironman Wisconsin;  as a result, 500 more have volunteered this year at Wisconsin than last year.  In order for this privilege to continue and not be abused, Ironman Wisconsin Staff have asked the Captains to establish procedures to ensure that this privilege remains fair to all.
I'll see most of you Sat Morning at 8:00AM and the rest on Sunday.  Don't forget the Volunteer party Monday Night at 5:30PM at Monona Terrace (usually can get good buys at the Ironman Store).  Packer/Viking game will be on.  Also, In the past volunteers received a DVD of Ironman Wisconsin.
Looking forward to a great Ironman Weekend."

Whizzzzzz and I will be at McCoy Road and Highway 14, keeping cars at bay while everyone makes their way out to Verona to start their 2 bike loops.  After we're done with that, we'll be out on the course cheering for everyone that is racing!

I'm thinking they are quite busy at this time and may not respond.

Depending on your volunteer position and scheduled time, I would at least show up 1/2 hour before your scheduled time at the volunteer registration tent that will be outside on race day to check-in and get your volunteer shirt and wristband, unless you're helping with bike giving/receiving, show up 1/2 hour before your shift and meet at the bike transition and someone should point you to the lead.  If a running or bike Marshal, get earlier to the volunteer tent and find out additional information.

I hope this helps.

I know they are probably busy now... but I've been trying to email her for 2 weeks! And her email says to email her before Sept 3, which I did, twice. And once after. It also says to email with any questions... just weird.

I will definitely get there early and do what they tell me to do. But as a communications professional this is driving me batty!

I had the same problem. I emailed immediately after the first note and have never gotten a response. I even called and left a VM. I finally just showed up today for my registration shift and once I found the crew, all went well. But it's definitely operating on a shoestring. We'll whip that changing tent into shape on Sunday! I'll see you there
