Was considering the half, but I think I'm flirting with a stress fracture so really don't want to push running right now.  But I think I will sign up for the 5K, sounds like it will be fun.

Sadly, I'm probably out of this one. If we have an FE lunch the day before, I will try to make that. But it's for a positive thing--I just have to save up my money for the IMKY trip later in the year, so very few races for me until then!

Coach gave me this race as an early season tuneup so I'm in!! My goal this year is to qualify for the Clearwater 70.3 World Championship. I'm running the Southern California Half on January 10th mostly in training pace per my coach so I'm curious to see what he'll have me do for the Surf City Half.  I just won't know until the week before but it should be fun I'm looking fowrad to seeing everyone!!

I just signed up for the half as well, hoping the weather is better this year .

Is anybody planning on a pre-expo bike ride and/or a post expo lunch?

Bummer...looks like I've got another event on Saturday that conflicts with the expo, so no 5K for me this year. Good luck with your respective races, y'all.

Last year my wife ran it so I dropped her off. It seemed there's plenty of parking near the start... but you have to pay. Otherwise you might have to walk at least a mile for free parking

Maybe he'll have you do a long ride the day before so you'll run the surf city on fatigued legs.

I did the half last year and I parked at a school a mile or two away and they had a whole bunch of school buses shuttling us to the start and back from the finish.

As Faeron pointed out there a couple of schools that are a few miles away where people park and then they bus you to the start. That's what I did two years ago and it worked out fine.

After basically not training for a couple of months I'm going to do the half instead of the full. If anybody is interested in meeting up Saturday morning for a ride, packet pick up and then lucnch, let me know.

HELLO everyone...  Hope you all had a great 2008 and have great plans for 2009.   I am in for the 13.1 again this year as a kick-off for my IM AZ 2009 training... I am up for a post expo lunch on Saturday so please let me know where you all want to meet... Last year the meeting place was at the base of the bridge in the beach parking lot and we walked up to Main street..  I won't be up for the Saturday bike ride but definitely for lunch..

AbbieR - 2009-01-12 9:18 AM I'm in for the 5k.

Are you coming all the way from Marin County to do a 5K?  Or do you have other things planned for that weekend?  I am doing the half marathon, albeit slowly.  Perhaps we can meet up and say "hi" before the race.

FYI...parking is horrible, so get there early. Last year I did the 5K and the shuttle dropped us off at the marathon start...which is a mile away from the 5K start.

I'd love to meet up on saturday for a ride and packet pickup etc.  I know some of you guys did the same thing last year the day before the race, where/when do we meet and how far do people want to go?  I've got a 2 1/2 hour ride according to the half-iron plan for oceanside, but I don't mind adjusting things if I get to ride with a group .
