craig002 - 2009-06-22 3:05 PM if you are irresponsible enough to lose your hairbrush and are lackadaisical enough to ask a stranger to borrow theirs, then your "track record" doesnt look that good in my book. you ARE the one that would have the potential to have the head lice.........so the answer would be "no".....

not trying to be nasty but logic and "evidence" is against you

I'm a little worried this isn't in red.

This doesn't really follow logic
lost hair brush = irresponsible
irresponsible = head life

wtf?!

that said, I would let someone borrow my hair brush, but then again, I'll eat something that fell on the floor.

I probably wouldn't let anyone I didn't actually know borrow my hair brush (I went to school in a lice-prone district, so I am scarred for life.)

But I wouldn't be any help to you anyway, because I don't have a hairbrush to begin with (I just fingercomb my crazy curly hair with a ton of conditioner, in the shower.

jldicarlo - 2009-06-22 11:26 AM Okay, so this morning...in the women's locker room....I discover my hair brush has fallen out of my gym bag somewhere between my kitchen and the locker room.

So I asked the three other women all standing around if I could borrow a hair brush so I could put my hair up (have to have it up in uniform).

And ALL of them refused!

I wouldn't have even thought twice if someone asked to borrow my hair brush...am I crazy?

So, what happened in the end?  Did you finally score a brush off someone, go to work with hair frizzled and unbrushed, buy one on the way to work...?

What if I lost my hairbrush (irresponsible), but then mugged you in the lockerroom and stole yours (not lackadaisical; in fact, demonstrating assertiveness)... does that make me a head lice candidate?

You're a Curly Girl!  I have two Curly Girl Daughters and we following the "Curly Girls Rules" religously.  If I forget, they remind me.

For the original question - when I had hair, I would not let someone borrow my hair brush.  If I let you use it, you could keep it.

It depends.

Do you have anything at all to do with -130s?

If so, then not just no, but hell no!

Heck no... and not because I'm worried about head lice.  Detached hair grosses me out.  A stranger's detached hair in my brush, ugh!!  No way!   If it was a friend, I'd clean the brush out first before letting them use it, then make them clean it after using it.

I did my best to pull it back as neatly as possible with just my hands.  It was pretty bad...I have very thick/wavy hair.  Then once I got back out to my car I discovered that THANKFULLY it had fallen out in my car and I was able to re-do my hair.

But the problem is that I couldn't just dash out to my car to check for it...I had already showered before I realized it was missing and had no clothes other than a uniform to put on...and I couldn't go outside in uniform without my hair done up.  And had no way of knowing if it was actually OUT there.

I thought...simple solution...SURELY someone will just let me borrow their brush for 15".  Yes, that's all it takes me.  15" of brushing...and no one would let me borrow their hair brush.

I had also forgotten shower shoes today....and this is the extra nasty field house so I wore my socks in the shower.  You know, I would let someone borrow my shower shoes too...I'm just nice like that.

I'd let Jennifer borrow my hairbrush. But only if she would share a crepe or bagel with me afterwards.

I'm not in the military, but I think it's just gross.

Friend or no friend.

I checked no way. But I'd probably lend it to a friend, then toss it and go buy a new one.

To answer a few other posters...yes, I guess anyone can get head lice...but I would STILL maintain that any adult with head lice wouldn't be stupid enough to ask to borrow a hair brush while they have head lice.  We're not talking about homeless people that just walked in off the street here...

Yeah, but you can have head lice for a long time before you realize it, and head lice are fairly spreadable. That's why when one kid at a school is found with head lice, ALL the parents in the school are notified and given preventative/treatment options.

btw, I would just like to point out that although, as a group, we have gleefully discussed the probability/certainty that we're swimming through each others' urine, most of us are totally freaked out by the concept of a shared hairbrush.

Fresh urine is sterile as it comes out of the body. Just sayin...

Not to mention the high concentration of urine you're going to find in a 300,000 gallon half-olympic pool.
