I'm working on booking my lodging.  I have 2 options for a one bedroom (it's just me and my hubby going).  I am waiting to hear back from some owners on availability.  We will either be staying 10 blocks from IM villa in a little studio, or staying in a one bedroom lakefront house 2 miles from IM Villa- which is our first option because it's on the lake and more scenic According to the map that house is just on the other side of the river, which isn't too far from everything.  We'll have a rental car and my husband will be jockstrapping so we should be ok with those arrangements.

brian - 2009-06-23 7:37 AM In ... and looking for housing.  I have a couple leads on some that are walking distance to transition - but choking a little on the price at >$425/night.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn on rt 90 in Post Falls. Clean, free breakfast and only about a 10 min drive to town. about $125 per night. I was able to get the roon the Thurs. AM the week of the race after our other reservations at the Super 8, Cd'A were cancelled when we didn't show by the 6 pm check in. I called 2 days before to confirm this would be ok... Still pisses me off but no biggie!

I'm in for 2010.  I did it in 2008, had a blast!! Volunteered this year at the run special needs.  Weather was a little on the wet and cold side for the runners, but hell it's Ironman we wouldn't have it any other way!!

Wow- the housing is tough.  I've emailed several owners on VRBO.COM and none of them will rent unless it's for 7 days.  We only plan on being there for 5 days.  I might have to just get a hotel room since hotels are more flexible

I'm in!  So's Hubby!  This will be his third (IMCanada 2008, and IMWI 2009) and my second.  My first WILL be IMWI in 10 weeks. Exactly.  Jeez.  Hard to believe I just signed up for my second one without completing (or heck, even starting!) my first one.  We also took the easy way out, we're staying at the hotel on the course.  And choking on the price.

FYI - Get your lodging nailed down soon.

In 2010 Hoopfest and Ironman are on the same weekend.  Hoopfest takes place in Spokane (about 30 minutes from CDA).  In the past lots of Hoopfest team have to stay in Liberty Lake, Post Falls, and CDA.  With Ironman on the same weekend Hotels and houses will be harder to find.

From the Hoopfest website:

Hoopfest is the biggest 3-on-3 street basketball tournament on the planet. That means over 6,400 teams, 3,000 volunteers, 200,000 players and fans, 400 courts spanning 40 downtown city blocks, and that's just on day one! Beyond basketball, though, Hoopfest is an outdoor festival chock full of concerts, shopping, food, interactive entertainment, and every year brings some thing new.  http://www.spokanehoopfest.net/

ETA: Flights and Car Rental may be harder to get as well.

I'm in for my first. Staying at Hampton Inn less than 2 miles from race start.

The Hoopfest in Spokane is interesting news. Might cause me to look further in to my idea of flying into Missoula, MT (167 miles away). Might be easier to get into there than Spokane and certainly will be closer to fly out of when we return from Glacier NP, post IM.

I think that I would have had it another way as I was unable to complete the race last month due to hypothermia and Raynaud's (got a nice case of bronchitis to go with it, too). Nevertheless, my near-death experience is not keeping me from trying again next year.

If anyone needs a couple to fill up a house at CDA, please let me know. Only my husband and I are going this year, so we cannot afford the house we had last year (as nice as it was).

I see the race is still open.  If everyone could call there slow male friends between the ages of 25 and 29 and let them know there is still plenty of room that would be great.

Stayed there last year, very nice digs, stay away from the Ice Cream shop across the street! Marble Slab or something, took me weeks to recover!!!

Can I lurk too?  First pointer:  Don't run into the signs separating bike traffic from car traffic   Second pointer:  The urgent-care center is top-notch if you ignore the first pointer!

I would have thought that you would have waited until August 31st to start your IMCDA plan.  Don't you have a little tri planned for the 30th.

Hey fellow CdA'ers!  So excited about the race, and it's oh, a year away .  Staying with a bunch of other club members in a Roundhouse just off part of the run course, on the lake.  Not too far from downtown.  I'm already thinking about the hilly goodness that my coach has in mind for me come January.  I have a goal of dropping 40 lbs before training gets seriously underway, anyone else up for a challenge thread?
