| Expert 767 Littleton, Colorado | Subject: RE: Two great Triathletes in the hospital from Colorado I live a few blocks from where the accident happened and drove through the scene about an hour afterwards. There were a bunch of emergency vehicles, and ton of people being interviewed by the cops. Even if the driver didn't stop, s/he would have been ID'd quickly. I saw the bikes on the ground. It made my stomach turn. Didn't realize until just now who it was. This is a very popular training route, and there are always bikes on this road. Julia and Dime would have been carrying some speed on a long gradual downhill. The car would have had a left-turn lane and a turn signal, so the car probably failed to yield on a solid green. Absolutely rediculous. FYI, Julia was getting ready for Worlds. |

Both have always been so nice to me and made me feel every bit a triathlete...even though I've always felt like such a "peon" in the triathlon world. A friend's son just came home from the hospital after being in a coma for about a week after a cycling accident. It looks like he'll make a full recovery with no long-term effects.
