newbz - 2009-11-18 12:35 PM in short course yards, :59, long course meters i think 1:03 or 4.

that makes me feel better....b/c I always take longer in long course pools!  and I love them more...I thought I just got into a mental lull during the longer swim.

100m short course, 1:22 is my best.  Right now I'm probably more like 1:30.

100y (PR ~ 57) was an akward distance for me. too long for an all out sprint. in the 50y (PR ~ 24) i could go all out without breathing so my time was better in the 50y.

200y was my favorite to swim (PR ~ 2:05), although I was pissed when I set that (my last swim meet ever).  my splits were 29, 30, 30, 36. for the first 150 yards I was swimming so silky 'smooth' and was crushing my rivals at sectionals by a half a pool length.  I was so excited I was doing so well and had so much energy left I went all out sprint for the last 50, and even though my energy expenditure probably doubled on that last split, my form went to hell and was working against myself. i feel like I could have broken 2minutes and qualified for districts

i forget my times in meter pools, they werent too common in high school

:59.4 in a TT from the blocks last Friday (scyds)
sub 1:10 on a set of 16 @ 1:30 a couple weeks ago (scyds)

College?  High 40's for the 100yd, 1:49ish for the 200yd.  But that was a long time ago

Last year in practice 1:12 or so for 100m from a push start.  It's not something we do often in practice, though.

On Saturday I'm swimming a few events in a local meet, including the 50m free (SCM).  I'm hoping to be under 30 seconds.

tjfry - 2009-11-18 2:56 PM Best ever - 44.9.  right now - sub minute but I doubt faster than 52 sec.

Is that for real?  That's near world class isn't it?  Insane speed.

I just did my first ever timed 100 this morning, my "coach" wanted a baseline, and I did 1:26.  From the wall  with no flip turns.  I was shocked that I can swim a 1:40 at what feels pretty effortlessly, but with max effort I don't seem to go much faster!

WR for 100m free is around 46 seconds.  44.9 must be yards -- It's still very, very fast.

He was a hot shot swimmer and triathlete in HS and college.  I'm betting those times are for yards not meters, but still ridiculously impressive!

Fastest 100m?  Maybe 1:08 or so, short course, flip turns.

Swim-all-day pace per 100m?  1:25 (in shape) or 1:35 (now).  I don't kick, either...just a two-beat for balance.

Long course times are usually slower, and don't worry, it's not the mental lull, but you get less pushes off of a wall.

I haven't timed myself in a 100m for awhile. Maybe 1:25-1:30 SC with a pool start.

My swim is currently what kills me, so I am therefore horribly embarrassed to post my times here. Needless to say, I'm BOP. I have never TT'd this before, since I typically blow up by 50m if I go out even a little hard. My swimming coach is working on this. :p

woo hoo!  2:02 and PROUD!! That should make everyone feel really good Smile

That's touching the wall and not kicking off... (felt need to define terms of said great achievements!).

And... wait for it... this is a 28 second improvement over last year!!!

About 1:20, short course, yards, now.  Off the blocks, I probably could get into the teens for 100 yds, maybe for 100m.  Back in the day (i.e., 32 years ago), I think my best was only about 1:01...don't recall ever breaking a minute.

1:04 SCY with a push off during a workout last month is my best.

We don't have any yard pools here that I know of. sc is meters and long course is meters here.

ETA: Ah, I get it, you were refering to newbz. Still turtlegirl shouldn't feel bad. LC times are slower.

Short course = 25 yards or 25 meters.  Long course = 50 of either.

bryancd - 2009-11-18 1:10 PM Starting on the blocks or from the wall? Makes a BIG difference.

I'd agree...

From the wall, I could eek out a 1:29 (yards) during sets back in May.

From the blocks?  2:05 since I'd have to stand up and put the goggles back on my face

1:00 off the blocks in HS or :59 from a flying start in a relay.  Nowadays, I'd be very hard pressed to hit 1:10-1:15.

I did a :59 SCY from a push at the end of a workout last month. I think my best time from a dive was back in college (over 10 years ago) - :53ish? I didn't swim the 100 LCM much - I think my best was about 1:01?
