I am S-L-O-W-L-Y building back up so there will more than likely no consecutive days for me. I need to keep the running up to the pitiful level I have achieved. |

I think were steering away from counting miles since most of us will be on the trainer - but we'll be counting minutes - so join in! |

Then people can choose to ride their trainers, go to spin classes or ride outside and still get points? I really like that idea, simple is always better! I just want that extra incentive for 'days-in-a-row'. It needs to be a big enough point value... i don't want to say to myself 'well if i just stay on another 15 minutes i can take tomorrow off'......
I could set that up in excel, but I am unsure if google docs supports the formulas I am thinking of. You would have to have a daily entry (like 30 days) and an idea of how you want points to carry forward. i.e each day in a row counts as an additional "point" so if you ride 3 days in a row at 30 mins, you would get 2 points for each day and then maybe an extra half point for 3 days ago and an extra quarter point for yesterday so it would total 6.75 points for the 3 days as opposed to 6 points for one day at 1.5 hours or 6.25 points for for two days in a row of 45mins... so basically if you rode everyday you would get an extra 108.75 pts (27 hrs)under that scheme. You could limit it to a certain maximum "extra points" per day of like either 4 (an hour) or 2 (30 min) which works out to a maximum "extra" of 86pts (21hrs) at the max 4 and 5 pts (12.75hrs)
or something like that... Andy - reading that hurts, I'm a designer and a right-brain-ANTI-MATH kinda girl Give it a shot and let me know - just don't throw out all those numbers and decimal points again or you'll be thrown off this challenge!!! |

Yeah, we could make it easier: 5 points per 15 minutes to start. If you ride 2 days in a row on the 2nd day you get 7 points for 15 minutes, 3rd day gets 10 points per 15. Then if you skip a day you start over at 5. Something like that with a cap at 20-25 points per 15 minutes? |

Some challenges will have goals and teams.....some are set up more like this one. Lisa hasn't posted the full set of challenge rules yet, stay tuned cause it should be coming soon. |

Is it based on your goal or is it competing with everyone else? I took a look at the spreadsheet. And, like Judi (QueenZipp) said, it appears that this is going to be a 'You versus Everyone Else" challenge. So you'll be competing against everyone else in an effort to achieve your stated goals. But also as Judi said, it's up to the Challenge Organizer to define and clarify the rules of the challenge. That way, each month's challenge can be slightly different. |

Beantown | Subject: RE: November 'get my A$$ on the trainer' challenge Hi guys - SORRY, I was out of town and overloaded with work~ The spreadsheet is GREAT, Andy gets BIG PROPS FROM ME!!!! I want this challenge to a motivator for myself not put pressure on people to compete - Blueraider_Mike come back! Friendly competition is fun - I'm not going to make anyone change their signature to say 'i lost xyz challenge' etc My goal is to get on the trainer every day - will it happen? NO! but I want to see how many days I can keep it going, and encourage everyone to stay fit and ready for holiday over-consumption. Maybe next month we can recruit more peeps and create teams to compete against. It all depends on my saddle sores. OH and because I was away I haven't even gotten my bike back from the shop !! GEE WIZZZZZ (As a first-time-challenge-starter what else do I need to do here??? eeeek) |

I like challenges set up on a personal goal, too. We all come at this from a different point, fitness-wise, and have different training needs.
