Nurses or Medical professional? (Page 2)

I think we all need to calm down a little. It doesn't do you (DerekL) or anyone else any good to offend people; you never know who you might need someday.

If anyone has the right to qualify what a "medical professional" is in this context, it's the original poster, not DerekL.

If you have a different view of a medical professional, then please state it. Let us know that you define "medical professional" differently and tell us the definition/distinctions. Please don't insult parrj, athletic trainers, or anyone else. Maybe you didn't intent insult, but it certainly has come off that way.

as per wikipedia: "Medical professional in its broadest sense denotes a person involved in a skilled medicine or health related occupation"

Personally, a medical professional is one who practices medicine, reserved for MDs. Again, I state that the implied intent of this post was for health professionals, and although only Colomingle can attest to this, it appears to have been implied, by the nature of responses.

Therefore, DerekL is a medical professional, and although by some definitions, parrj can lay claim to being a medical professional, he remains nonetheless a legitimate health care professional, deserving of no less respect than anyone else who responded in good faith to this post.

Hmmm, coming to this thread late and I missed all of the controversy.  Derek - I know you are aware of how much I was recently helped by a doctor during my illness I mean no disrespect by this post BUT....

 Y'all are bonkers. 

I define medical professional as anyone who makes me wait for a long time in a little room.

In the "classical definition" there are but 3 professions

Physician
Attorney
Minister

Any other "profession" is a modern construct.

Sweet!  Then I count under that definition.  I'm a minister.  A chaplain at a hospital.

Cool...so by locking Janelle in the closet at work, I'm a medical professional. I guess that makes sense, because when I do it makes all of BT a little more sane. SO I'm like a psychiatrist in that respect. I think I need to start billing ya'll.

My last comment on the thread.  I respect anybody who applies him/herself to a field and helps others in the process.  My posts were merely intended to state an opinion, and I mean no disrespect to anybody, including you, by them.

I don't give a crap what anyone labels me. Though I am a just a measly firefighter/paramedic I do make a difference everyday. Whether I am a professional or not I have not the slightest idea. I do work with plenty of technical stuff. Intubations while laying in mud puddles, over thirty drugs in our drug box, plueral decompressions, cric's in the field, etc etc. Oh yeah I am glad I don't have to wear a tie everyday.

What about "the oldest profession?"
