LINDA!!!!  Loved your race report, it was riveting!  Once again, to say "terrific job!" is such an understatement.  What a year for you!

Cannot wait to meet you someday soon... have a fabulous trip to Hawaii!

Hey folks.  Between a busy couple of days and computer problems at home, I haven't been able to post much lately so this will be a little bit of catch up...

Linda - Awesome race report and congratulations on a great race and a PR.  I also think it is great that you were able to just chill for the week before the race.  Camping, cooking out, drinking...sounds awesome!

DJs question about moving up in distance - I thought about doing an HIM this year, my second year.  My wife wasn't ready to sign up for the increased training so I didn't push it.  Since she started doing tri's this year, I think that she now "gets it" better and I think I will be able to convince her for next year.  Likely will be a local race to start but still looking forward to going longer and testing myself.  I don't see being able to committ the time to train for 140.6 anytime in my near future.  3 kids, dual career parents, sports, coaching, life...it just won't work.  I don't necessarilly feel any peer pressure to go long.  In fact, when running my half marathon earlier this year I thought, "why the hell would I want to do another 13.1 miles after this and all that after doing a big swim and big bike?!?".  But I tell you what...reading race reports like Linda's and Kyla gives me the urge.  It will have to wait until later though.  Besides, there are too many fast people in my AGYell

As far as this weekend - no racing for me.  We are headed to my parent's house on Long Island this weekend and then to DC next week.  Spending one day touring the capital - probably the air and space museum and somewhere else.  Tried to get tickets for the White House tour but our senator did not come through.  After that, my son Jeremy is getting a prosthetic ear.  For a kid who has never had a left ear and who has had to have extra straps across the top of his head for his glasses the last 8 years, this is a BIG DEAL.  He is so exicted and I can wait to see his reaction.

With all that travel, my training next week will not be good.  Hopefully will do a little OWS in the ocean over the weekend and I am sure I will get several runs in but biking will be zero.  I will just call it taper for my first tri of the season (FINALLY!!!!) next weekend.

Everyone have a safe and fun 4th of July!  Good luck to the racers.

Almost forgot...

June's totals:
Bike:9h 09m 19s  - 175.12 Mi
Run:7h 13m 21s  - 53.54 Mi
Swim:8h 44m 33s  - 28950 Yd

Swim was good.  Running was light but passable.  Biking was terrible.  One of my lowest months of the year.  Need to spend some more time in the saddle before my Oly first weekend of August.

Public Shout out to Ryan of the MG for all the running help he gave me this week.  Hopefully some of his speed will transfer with the information!  (now I just need to keep working on running slow?)

Thanks again, shows why this MG is as strong as it is!  Wink

If you like the Air and Space, check out the Utvar-Hazy Annex out at Dulles Airport. It has more of Air and Space's exhibit thatn fit down town. The Spy Museum is cool, but it is not free. History is neat and the kids might like it as it has things like Oscar the Grouch, Archie Bunker's Chair and Fonzie's Jacket. Here is hoping Jeremy appointment goes well.Doug

John - no Yanks this trip.  Brother is in visiting from Hawaii so we will be just hanging...probably going to the beach, setting off some fireworks, eating and drinking too much...etc.

Second on the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Annex.  Very cool.  They have one of the Space Shuttles there, as well as one of the Concordes.  But it is a ways from downtown.  You really have to commit to it being your day.

Also, consider the Museum of Natural History, with all the dinosaur and other animal stuff.  North side of the Mall at like 12th or so.  My kids (6b, 4g, 2b) love it.

And good luck to your son.  I can only imagine the breadth of the smile.

Thanks!  Just so everyone knows, this is not a surgery so it is actually a pretty easy trip.  The prosthetic is actually something that is glued on each day.  In the future, he can have some "hardware" installed to allow it to clip on but they won't do that until he is finished growing.  The person who makes the prosthetics is pretty interesting.  Used to be a disguise artist for the CIA - think Tom Cruise peeling his disguise mask off in Mission Impossible - that is the type of stuff he used to do for spies!

Pretty cool.  I always like to see people give back.  Also kind of cool that her career was inspired by triathlon.

How did I know you would somehow involve me?!  At least the link was not to an embarrassing race photo.  Wongstar is pretty cool, I enjoy her blog and the work she does.  You are right, she talks lots of smack.  She is pretty dang fast on bike/run, but swim, not so much...hmm...what is it with us asian women and swimming???  Cry  Not gonna stop giving our best, though.

Yeah I am a big fan of hers, she wrote a great blog entry last time I was there about being pro but not as fast as the faster AG'ers, she said she could drop back but she wants to be a pro so she is going to work harder, and ignore the folks that give her a hard time about finishing behind some AG'ers.

Anyone else buy shoes from runningwarehouse.com?

Free 2 day shipping and returns, I just bought a pair of Saucony A4's for 67 bucks.  Retail 95 (just tried them on at a local store and that was their price)

RW sells them for 75 plus you can get a 15% discount if you enter the runnersworld code "rwmastersd"

Do you guys want to hear something crazy?  Someone posted in CA forum the Kona qualifiers for 2010 from CA70.3.

It seems I should have gone to the rolldown.  W45-49 Kona qualifier was 85/90 with a finish time of 8:18 or something crazy like that.  I never even thought to look...i was somewhere like 36/90.

Probably my best chance to get it...so sad
