Hope all our buddies in America enjoyed their Independence Day and are not now on the way to work with a hangover.

I did a 70 K bike yesterday. All hills and I was so tired I had trouble just falling into the pool to cool off. It was very hot up here for us Great White North people (about 90/95F). I was sweating a lot and ended up with a bad rash on both butt cheeks. Sorry John I know how much you like pictures and say "without pics it didn't happen" but I am going to take pity on the group and not show them. I think for this time around you can just trust me.

Have a great day all. I am off to my daughter's new place to put in an air conditioner for her.

Finally catching up to the group after a few days away.  I was out of town helping to build a garage last week, man I used muscles I don't normally use!  Good news to report, I got selected from the wait list to participate in the Lifetime Fitness Tri this coming weekend.  A quick modification to my training schedule, and I will be set to race!

A day off today will involve a course pre-ride and probably a easy run with my wife since the weather was not great yesterday.

Happy belated 4th to everyone, hopefully most have today off as well!

I'm back!!!!

6:08 at Lonestar. I really wanted to tbreak 6hrs on this half.

let me say this. I rocked the bike this weekend. some rollers and one big hill we had to do twice(out and back)
And just importantly was able to hang on to the run. almost PR'ed the 1/2 on the run.

Bike was 2:37!!!! total time 5:27:28.....
I feel like  i should retire now. Go out on top. will check back in later.

Back from our most awesome camping trip on the Hood Canal with 4 other fams/kids. Poor Trip is beyond tired -- he had kids throwing things for him non-stop and he was always up to the challenge. You'd think he's drugged, he's such a lump! (Two injured paw pads from oysters on the beach too -- poor pupper!)

I'm feeling very mushy. I ran once while gone, and once before I left. Summer should start here any day now (July 5 is usually the official start date but today it's not cooperating) and I'd love to do some bike rides. Trouble is I have these darned kids around -- arrrrrrgh. Next week they have camp so I can grab a few hours here and there.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, and hope those pals of us to the north, eh, enjoyed some celebration in our honor.

Sweet race.  Awesome job.

Plus, I think you can take over for John in teaching the T1 and T2 seminar.

Back to normal work and reading the site. What a crazy week. Had a great day with just me and the little one on Sunday. I think we wore each other out pretty good. I did a nice fast paced ride last night to get the HR up and try to improve my threshold. It was insanely hot and I knocked out 2 water bottles in about 45 minutes. Tonight is the pool, try out the new jammers. I will say that my pants are getting really big and I have to put a new hole in the belt which is an awesome feeling.

Grats to all the racers and I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend.

Hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend.  Seemed to fly by.

Debating on a race this weekend, they had Jellyfish there a few years ago and I am not a fan, so can't decide if I should sign up or not...

TRAINING QUESTION:

How long of a run do you do without hydration.  I went for a 70min run this weekend and think that might be too far for me (heavy sweater in 100% humidity and 80ish degrees...)  What say you MG?

If it's over 30 minutes in the hot summer I bring a small thing of water with me just in case.  70 mins for sure I would have water or a route where I can drink from a fountain.

In cool weather, I'll go up to :90 w/o water. But in heat? I'll take something for even 20 minutes!! When I go running in Hawaii I definitely carry water even on shorter runs. I'd positively DIE in 80 degrees with lots of humidity for :70 w/o water, and I'm NOT a heavy sweater!!
