Hello everyone. I made it back from the land of Oz without being hit by any falling houses.  Last page I read was pg 251 so I've got some catching up to do.  Hope everyone had a nice holiday and I'll be back later.

Okay, back from the doctor. First, thanks for all the well wishes! I sincerely appreciate it! I've got good news and bad news. Good news is that it's a grade 1 shoulder separation and nothing is broken. It's a pretty common injury and the doc thinks it should resolve itself in about 4-5 weeks. It's still super sore and I've got a pretty limited range of motion. The bad news is that he didn't prescribe me any good drugs Birdy said he "has some connections" or something to fix that...

EDIT: the most important thing is that the bike escaped with only a few scratches on the right brake lever and shifter. Thank goodness.

PM me  your address...  I think I have a bottle of vicadin collecting from my basal cell carcinoma removal last year   Oh wait - is that legal?

BTW - that's great news - no broken collarbone!

Good to hear man!  Hopefully the 4-5 weeks will even go quicker if you lay off it early on.

Had a great weekend of swimming. Friday I made it 500 yards in one shot and I forgot to time it. I did use a buoy but I have never made it that far without stopping. Today I went out and did it again, I made it 500 yards in 11:30 mm/ss. It felt awesome. I also went out for a run on the trails, I was planning on 2 miles and ending up walking 2 as well due to taking a wrong turn in the woods. I tried to run as much as I could but I was crazy exhausted.

Well, it looks like I have tendonitis in my left achillies. I have a bump about 4 cm up from my heel. It is tender to the touch and a little painful when I start to exercise, but the pain goes away after a little while. I have not changed footwear recently, but I do have very flat feet and thus over-pronate.

I think I need to see my doctor to get a diagnosis.

This might have something to do with my crumbling running.

Mark--Excellent...you are making great strides!

Ryan--glad you have no broken bones...what can you do while rehabbing?

Had OWS class tonight and we did a timed 1.2m swim because so many of us are either doing Racine 70.3 or the Door County HIM this weekend. Both are big races in Wisconsin this time of year.   Things went well.....always good heading into a race weekend!

Heu Suzy..."peroneus longus tendon" maybe??...the bottom of my foot on the outer edge/middle of foot is really sore. Never really felt anything after my race last weekend. But in the days after it, it is quite sore?

Weird story. The guy actually used to be part of our team a couple years ago. We got a note from our coach wondering if anyone has seen him. he supposedly was as our race last weekend, and now vanished....not sure what'll happen.

On an unrealted note, I went for a short run at luch todaydowntown around the river. Saw a body get pulled from the river. It was weird. seeing the yellow body bag and the stretcher for it. Crazy.

Hello folks!

I am not as quick as some of you but here is my race report.

I traveled to Kentucky today for work and will be here until Wednesday.  I had hoped for a run tonight but wound up going to dinner with a co-worker instead.  Need to try to get up the next two mornings and run.

Looks like tons of great results from the weekend.

Ryan - sorry to hear about the fall but glad to hear that nothing is broken.  Heal fast!

Mark - congrats on the swim...it is great to see you hitting so many milestones.

Kyla - any turnip stories you would like to share???

Doug, I took a look at your logs...  Know that I am not a strong runner or a coach, but let me ask a few questions as I suspect you might be overtrained...

First, are you taking a recovery week every three to four weeks?  If so, it was immediately obvious from your logs.  Second, it looks like all your runs are at very similar pace.  Your long runs are at about 10:00/mi and so are most of your others except for an odd speedwork day here and there.  Maybe try dialing back the runs for a week and see what happens.  Go ahead and make the appointment for like 10-11 days away just in case a light week doesn't cut it...

Hi gang - still plugging away here.  :-)

Congrats to all the racers this past weekend.  Lots of hardware.

Ryan - glad you didn't break your collarbone although the shoulder still sounds painful.

Suzy - how on earth do you find the energy for all of your races!  ;-)

Tony's in OKC for the night.  We leave for MN in 3 days.  Driving w/ the kids.  Making a short stop in Chicago for some fun.  I think we both hope to get some nice workouts in while we are actually in MN.

Have a great week!

Allow me a few family bragging moments...

Last week we were in the DC area to get Jeremy's prosthetic ear.  He was so happy to get it and has enjoyed showing it off.  He has also been thrilled not to have to wear a strap over the top of his head to hold his glasses up.  Here is a pic...

On Sunday, my middle son Tommy did his first Triathlon.  It was supposed to be 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike, .25 mile run.  Not sure all the distances were accurate because they were a little disorganized but Tommy had a great time.  He was pushing hard all the way...would have been first out of the water but was going in the wrong direction running up towards the beach.  I guess he has sighting issues just like his dad!  Here he is with his finishers medal...

There are a couple of more pics of Jeremy in my album and several more pics of both of them on facebook if you are interested.

Finally, my wife got the best news today.  Her father has been battling esophogus cancer for the past 9 months or so.  His treatments ended a couple of months ago and today he got the results of a PET scan that showed no signs of cancer!  He has been through a lot and it was great to hear that he is over the hump and on the road to recovery.

buying a new vehicle is so frustrating.  trade in our 2007 Odyssey EX-L with DVD to swap out with a Volvo XC90..Guys so lowball you on your trades. Michelle gets so agitated with it. I love the challenge though. I'm anumbers guy, so I'm been emailing him with comparables and %'s ,etc all night long.
I live a sheltered life. I do not get out much.

Hey Sam and Tony - do you guys know about Tri Team Z??  They were at our race this weekend and they had like 90 people there!  Some did the sprint, some did the half, some did both.  They had three huge tents, a huge cookout for the athletes, their own massage person, and lot of people chearing eveyone on.  There were people from the FOP to BOP.  Seemed like a nice group of people.

That picture is in the office of the guy who made the prosthetic.  I think it is a pic of Charlie Gibson...news anchorperson (ABC I think).

Yes - they are a tri team in our area - actually based in Arlington.  I think it's a great group and when they travel they travel big!  They went to Mooseman last year and had a huge set up.  In addition to coaching, they do lots of social stuff and planned group workouts.  Great for single people or DINKS!
