Originally posted by jmkizer Indoor cycling peeps, it sounds like Rolla might be worth checking out if you are looking for a free (for the next little while at least) platform. Here's the DCR video review if you are interested: https://youtu.be/VSxWHI8NktQ I like chatting with folks on Zwift and I've even made some "Zwift friends" but I may take a look at this since it requires almost nothing in terms of computer hardware. And free is a good price. That looks interesting! |

Is anyone else racing or doing anything else fun this weekend? What a weekend! We went to Williamsburg, VA this weekend and did Rev3 Williamsburg. I did the Olympic (well, I added 7 miles to the bike) and Scott did the spring aquabike. Great venue but HOT!! We went with friends who we used to do triathlons with a decade ago! So fun catching up! |

Congratulations! It looked like you had a great race. I was stationed in Yorktown for a little while when I was in the Coast Guard, and that part of VA was HOT! I would have melted into a puddle of salt and sweat. |

Regular 980 Caerphilly, Wales, uk. | Subject: RE: Marvelous Manatees - Stronger than Ever! Forgive the intrusion, long time, no see, but I'm after some advice and I can't think where else to ask. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to get back in to regular, consistent exercise, but I keep getting injured. I think it's mostly to do with me doing too much, too soon, too fast for my current physique and fitness level ?? On tgat note, recently I decided to try easing in using HR to dictate pace and reign in my ego. But even doing this I'm still picking up injuries. I've always suffered with various lower body injuries in the past (shin splints, tendinitis, it band etc)but have managed to work through it. Unfortunately, age seems to be playing a part with how long I'm raking to get over these injuries. My current injury appears to be, from my google search of symptoms, plantar fasciitus. I'm getting inflammation in my heal which is hard to walk with when waking up/long times of immobility. This eases a bit after stretching foot/achiles/calf. I can also feel a sharp burning sensation when stretching the bottom of the foot, life scar tissue tearing. I've recently switched from no drop running shoes (altra) due to struggling getting back in to running using them, didn't have an issue with them before, but now my calves are in pain when I use them ( it's been a few years since regular running). I'm now using nike pagasus zoom air. All my research suggests using cushioned, arch supported shoes to help with P F prevention. I thought these had this. Has anyone had any personal experience with PF? How long did it take to get over it? Am I OK to cycle with PF? Thanks for your help Darren. |

I've had PF 2x, neither time was fun. I ended up getting a cortisone shot each time. The first time it didn't work and it took me about 6 months to completely get over it. The second time, the shot worked so it was a quick recovery. Calf stretches are really important to help heal and for prevention. I also ended up getting orthotics. Cycling was ok for me to do, stretching the calves afterward. I know Melanie has been dealing with a bad case of PF, so perhaps she can give you more insight. |
